JEECUP Counselling 2026: Two Additional Rounds Announced; Choice Filling Begins Aug 21

In a major development for diploma aspirants across the region, the Joint Entrance Examination Council, Uttar Pradesh (JEECUP) has officially expanded its counselling schedule by introducing two special additional phases—Round 6 and Round 7. The decision comes as a crucial opportunity for thousands of state-level and out-of-state candidates who have yet to secure a seat in government, government-aided, or private polytechnic institutes following the completion of the initial five counselling rounds.

According to the notification released on the official portal, online choice filling for Round 6 will officially commence on August 21, 2026. The additional rounds are open to all qualified rank-holders seeking admission into full-time Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy, and Management diploma programs.

Extending Horizons for Unallotted Candidates

The addition of two extra rounds comes as relief for students who faced steep cut-offs in earlier phases or failed to lock adequate preferences. Over 4 lakh candidates took the computer-based entrance examination earlier this year, competing for specialized seats across thousands of polytechnic institutions affiliated with the Board of Technical Education, Uttar Pradesh (BTEUP).

The expanded counselling phase covers candidates across all major groups, including Groups A, B, C, D, F, G, H, I, K1 through K8, and L. Unlike the initial stages—which primary prioritized domiciled residents of Uttar Pradesh—the additional rounds allow non-domicile candidates from other Indian states to compete actively for vacant seats across both core engineering trades and specialized post-graduate diploma tracks.

Official Schedule: Round 6 and Round 7

The council has outlined a tight, non-overlapping timeline to ensure that classes can resume smoothly without disrupting the ongoing academic calendar. Candidates must strictly adhere to the following dates:

Round 6 Schedule

  • Choice Filling & Option Locking: August 21 to August 23, 2026

  • Seat Allotment Result Declaration: August 24, 2026

  • Online Fee Payment (Acceptance & Counselling Fee): August 25 to August 28, 2026

  • Document Verification at District Help Centers: August 25 to August 29, 2026 (up to 6:00 PM)

  • Admitted Seat Withdrawal Window: August 30, 2026

  • Physical Reporting at Allotted Institutes: August 31, 2026

Round 7 Schedule

  • Choice Filling & Option Locking: August 31 to September 2, 2026

  • Seat Allotment Result Declaration: September 3, 2026

  • Online Fee Payment (Acceptance & Counselling Fee): September 4 to September 7, 2026

  • Admitted Seat Withdrawal Window: September 9, 2026

  • Final Physical Reporting at Institutes: September 10, 2026

Key Rules: Auto-Freeze, Verification Waiver, and Fees

JEECUP has issued important operational guidelines that distinguish Round 6 and Round 7 from previous rounds:

  1. Mandatory “Freeze” Selection: The option to “Float” (reserving a seat while waiting for a higher-preference upgrade in a later round) has been completely disabled. Any seat allotted during Round 6 or Round 7 will automatically be placed under the “Freeze” status. Candidates who are assigned a seat must accept the offer or forfeit their claim altogether.

  2. Document Verification Waiver: Candidates who already underwent physical document verification during Rounds 1 through 5 do not need to visit a District Help Center again if they receive a new seat allotment in Round 6 or 7. They can complete their admission directly by depositing the required fee online. Freshly allotted students, however, must physically report to a designated district center.

  3. Fee Obligations: To secure a seat, candidates must pay a total mandatory fee of ₹3,250 via the online portal, which covers the seat acceptance fee along with non-refundable counselling costs. If a candidate decides to withdraw their admitted seat within the permitted withdrawal window, a partial refund of ₹3,000 will be processed under standard council protocols. Failure to pay the balance fees or complete verification within the declared timeframe will result in immediate seat cancellation.
