AP EAPCET 2026: Apply for pharmacy admissions in Visakhapatnam

The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) oversees admissions to various Pharmacy courses, including B.Pharmacy, Pharm.D, and M.Pharm, in Visakhapatnam and across Andhra Pradesh. This management is primarily supported through the AP EAPCET exam, ensuring a transparent and merit-based selection process for both government and private institutions.

The admission framework for these programs incorporates specific eligibility criteria, entrance examinations such as AP EAPCET, GPAT, and AP PGECET, and a defined allocation of seats between government, private, and management quotas. In addition, the state implements reservation policies for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Backward Classes (BC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), and women candidates.

B.Pharmacy and Pharm.D Admission Process

Admission to the four-year B.Pharmacy program and the six-year Pharm.D course in Visakhapatnam is largely governed by the AP EAPCET exam, conducted annually by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education. For B.Pharmacy, candidates must have passed 10+2 or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology, generally securing a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. Some institutions may adjust cutoffs, particularly for reserved categories, and students holding a three-year Diploma in Pharmacy are also eligible in certain instances.

The seat allocation for B.Pharmacy involves 100% of seats in government colleges and 70% of seats in private colleges being filled through AP EAPCET counseling by APSCHE. The remaining 30% of seats in private colleges fall under the Management Quota. For Pharm.D, 50% of seats are designated for M.P.C. candidates and 50% for Bi.P.C. candidates, with eligibility mirroring B.Pharmacy requirements. The State Government conducts AP EAPCET in April/May for Pharm.D admissions, filling 70% of seats based on AP EAPCET rank, while the remaining 30% are filled by management based on merit or state government rules.

M.Pharm Eligibility and Seat Allocation

The M.Pharm program, a two-year, four-semester course, requires candidates to hold a B.Pharm degree from a Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) recognized University with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. For SC/ST/OBC candidates, the minimum aggregate mark requirement is 45%. A mandatory registration with the State Pharmacy Council is required within one month of admission, along with the submission of a migration certificate.

Admission to M.Pharm is determined by merit rank from either the GPAT Examination or the Telangana State Government PGECET. Similar to other pharmacy programs, 70% of M.Pharm seats are allotted by the Convener based on merit, categorized as A-Category seats. The remaining 30% are designated for NRI/Management candidates, known as B-Category seats.

Reservation Policies for Pharmacy Courses

The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education implements complete reservation policies across all pharmacy courses to ensure equitable access. Typically, a 15% reservation is provided for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates, while Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates receive a 6% reservation. Backward Classes (BC) have a total reservation of 29%, distributed among sub-categories: BC-A, BC-B, BC-C, BC-D, and BC-E.

In addition, a 10% reservation is allocated for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). A horizontal reservation of 33 1/3% of seats is specifically provided for women candidates within each respective category. Candidates who qualified in AP EAPCET-2025 and secured 50% (for Open Category) and 45% (for Other categories) in the group subjects of their Intermediate or equivalent examination are eligible for counseling, which follows a multi-stage process including notification, online application, document verification, option entry, and seat allotment rounds.
