The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has not yet released the datesheet for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations scheduled for 2027. As of October 29, 2026, students and schools awaiting the timetable have been directed to monitor the official CBSE website, cbse.gov.in, for updates.

The release of the datesheet is anticipated following the closure of the List of Candidates (LOC) submission process, which concludes on October 30, 2026. This year, approximately 44 lakh students from around 8,000 schools across India and abroad are expected to participate in the CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations.

Timeline for Datesheet Release and Examinations

While the exact date and time for the release of the Class 10 and Class 12 timetables have not been announced, the CBSE typically releases the examination schedule in November-December. However, last year saw an earlier release in October. The board uses the LOC data submitted by schools to prepare the final examination schedule.

The CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations are scheduled to commence in February 2027. Class 12 theory examinations are expected to continue into April 2027. Practical examinations for most affiliated schools are generally held before the theory examinations, with January, February 2027 indicated as the period for these assessments.

Key Changes and Examination Structure for 2027

For Class 10 students, the CBSE has introduced a two-phase examination system starting from 2026. Phase 1 is compulsory and is expected in February-March 2027, while Phase 2 is optional, intended for improvement, and is expected in May 2027. To pass Class 10, students need a minimum of 33% marks in each subject, clearing both theory and practical/internal assessment components.

The datesheet, once released, will detail subject-wise examination dates, exam timings, and important instructions for candidates. It will also provide information regarding practical examinations. Around 50% of the questions in the board exam will consist of competency-focused, case-based, and analytical items.
