CUSAT 2026-27 excess fee refund applications open: apply by 30 September

Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) has opened applications for the refund of excess fees paid by students admitted for the 2026-27 academic year. Students can submit their applications through their respective profiles on the CUSAT admissions portal, with the application window closing on 30 September 2026.

The refund policy, dated 17 June 2026 and issued by Dr. James Varghese, Director, outlines specific timelines and conditions for fee refunds, differentiating between programmes approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC).

CUSAT Refund Policy for AICTE Approved Programmes

For AICTE approved programmes, which include B.Tech, MCA, Integrated MCA, MBA (Full Time/Evening Regular), and M.Tech (Full Time/Executive), a full refund of aggregate fees was available for cancellations made up to 20 July 2026. No refund is provided for cancellations from 21 July 2026 onwards. The aggregate fee is defined as the total fees paid, excluding caution deposits and other refundable deposits.

The refund policy for these programmes references the Academic Calendar 2026-2027, which was issued by AICTE on 2 June 2026.

CUSAT Refund Policy for UGC Approved Programmes

For UGC approved programmes, such as M.Sc, M.F.Sc, M.A, M.Voc, BBA LLB, B.Com LLB, BCS LLB, LLM, B.Voc, Dual Masters in Science in new generation of Electronic Component Base, IDMPM, MBA (Executive), Integrated M.Sc, Integrated M.A Hindi, and B.Tech (PT), a full refund is available for cancellations made up to 30 September 2026. From 1 October 2026 to 31 October 2026, a full refund is provided after deducting a processing fee of ₹1,000. No refund will be given for cancellations from 1 November 2026.

CUSAT has stated that the refund policy for UGC approved programmes will be revised upon the publication of the UGC Refund Policy 2026–27. This policy also references UGC D.O. No. F.12-5/2024 (FNT/NET)-Fee Nivaran (Notice) regarding the continuation of the Fee Refund Policy.
