NSOU UG, PG, BLIS: Apply for admission by September 9, 2026

Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU) has extended the admission deadline for its Four Year Undergraduate (FYUG), Postgraduate (PG), and Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLIS) programmes for the 2026-27 academic session. The latest extension was notified on September 9, 2026, specifically for PG (excluding MSc Zoology, MSc Geography, and MSc Environmental Science) and BLIS admissions, marking the second such extension for these categories.

This decision by West Bengal’s state open university, which is also India’s first state-level open university, aims to allow a greater number of candidates to complete their application process for the current academic year. Previous extensions for PG and BLIS admissions were announced on August 17, 2026, while the deadline for FYUG admissions was extended on August 27, 2026.

Admission Process and Previous Deadlines

Online registration for the July 2026 session of NSOU PG Admission commenced on July 25, 2026, at 10:00 AM. The initial last date to submit the online application form for NSOU PG Admission 2026 was August 17, 2026, by 9:00 PM. Following this, the last date to upload necessary documents was August 18, 2026, by 9:00 PM, and online fee payment was open until August 19, 2026, by 9:00 PM.

For candidates preferring offline payment, the option to pay fees via Indian Bank challan was available from July 27, 2026, until August 19, 2026, during banking hours. The university follows a structured admission sequence, requiring form submission first, followed by document upload, and then fee payment.

Specific Timelines for Certain PG Programmes

Admissions for MSc Geography (PGGR), MSc Zoology (PGZO), and MSc Environmental Science (PGES) follow a separate merit-based admission and counselling process. A tentative merit list for these programmes was scheduled for August 27, 2026. The deadline for DEB ID verification was September 2, 2026, at 4:00 PM.

Tentative counselling sessions for these specific programmes were also scheduled: MSc Zoology (PGZO) on September 2, 2026, MSc Geography (PGGR) on September 3, 2026, and MSc Environmental Science (PGES) on September 7, 2026. Following these processes, provisional enrolment certificates and SLM token printing were scheduled from September 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM to September 10, 2026, at 9:00 PM.
