Overview of Calicut University Admissions Process

The University of Calicut’s admissions are managed by its Directorate of Admissions (DoA), which was established in 2014. The DoA’s primary objective is to smooth out the entire admissions process for both the University Teaching Departments and its affiliated colleges. This includes conducting centralised admissions for many Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), and M.Phil programs.

The university offers over 200 courses across various levels. Admission to most UG courses, excluding B.Tech, is merit-based. For PG courses, admission is determined by a combination of merit and entrance examinations. The Calicut University Centralized Entrance Test (CU-CET) 2026 is relevant for MPEd admissions, while the Calicut University Common Admission Test (CUCAT) is used for admission to MA, M.Sc, MCA, MSW, LLM, M.P.Ed, and B.P.Ed programs.

Application Fees and New Programs

The application fee for PG programs for the general category is INR 420, while SC/ST candidates are required to pay INR 175. For PG Distance Education programs, the application fee is ₹575, and for the MBA Distance Education program, it is ₹750. The university also accepts scores from KEAM/JEE Main for B.Tech programs and CMAT/CAT/KMAT for MBA programs.

Along with existing offerings, Calicut University has introduced new PG and Integrated PG programs. These include MA Epigraphy & Manuscriptology with 20 seats, Integrated MA Sanskrit Language and Literature with 20 seats, and Integrated MA Arabic Language and Literature with 30 seats. Admission to these Integrated MA programs is conducted through the Calicut University Common Admission Test (CUCAT).
