CBSE LOC 2027 registration opens September 24: submit by October 21 without late fee

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the schedule for the submission of the List of Candidates (LOC) for the Class 10 and 12 Main Examinations for the academic session 2026-27, with exams slated for 2027. CBSE-affiliated schools are required to submit student details online via cbse.gov.in, with the process commencing on September 24, 2026.

This submission is crucial for registering students for the 2027 board exams and for advance planning of subject combinations, skill subject choices, and exam centre allocations. The circular regarding the ‘Submission of List of Candidates (LOC) for Class X and Class XII Main Examinations- 2026-27’ was released on September 21, 2026, following a prior intimation issued on September 10, 2026.

LOC Submission Schedule and Deadlines

The online portal for LOC submission will open on September 24, 2026. Schools must complete the digital payment without a late fee by October 21, 2026. For those opting for challan payment, the deadline without a late fee is October 17, 2026. The CBSE has stated that the LOC last date will not be extended, and the portal will close at 11:59 PM on the respective last dates.

A late fee period will apply for submissions made after these dates. For digital payments, the late fee period runs from October 22, 2026, to October 30, 2026. For challan payments, this period is from October 22, 2026, to October 26, 2026. A correction window will be available from November 2, 2026, to November 4, 2026, for rectifying submitted information.

Examination Fees and Payment Details

The examination fee for five subjects in India is INR 1,600. For each additional subject, an extra fee of INR 320 applies. Class 12 students will also incur a practical fee of INR 160 per subject in India. Visually impaired students are exempt from paying the examination fee. For schools in Nepal, the fee for five subjects is INR 5,500, with INR 1,100 for each extra subject and INR 175 for practicals. Schools in other countries will pay INR 11,000 for five subjects, INR 2,200 for each extra subject, and INR 375 for practicals.

A late fee of INR 2,000 per student will be uniformly applied across all locations for submissions made after the specified deadlines. All payments must be made online. Schools in India can use card, UPI, NEFT, or net banking for payment, as offline payment methods are not accepted. A challan, once generated, remains valid for four days.

Process for Schools and Student Verification

CBSE-affiliated schools must log in with their Affiliation Number as the user ID on cbse.gov.in. The process involves updating school data on the OASIS portal, filling teacher data on the HPE portal, and then meticulously checking student details. These details include the student’s name, mother’s/father’s/guardian’s name, date of birth, subjects, category, photograph, APAAR ID (optional), and CWSN status.

After LOC submission, subjects cannot be changed. For Class 12, the LOC submission occurs while students are still in Class 11. Students are advised to verify their details with their school before the data is locked. Private candidates follow a separate self-registration route directly on cbse.gov.in. The CBSE Class 12 board exams for this LOC cycle are expected to commence in mid-February 2027.
