University of Gour Banga PG admission 2026 round 3 registration reopens on September 18

The University of Gour Banga reopened its registration portal for Postgraduate (PG) Admission 2026 Round 3 on September 18, 2026. This reopening allows eligible candidates to register for the 2-year postgraduate programs offered under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The registration is accessible through the university’s official PG admission portal, ugb.ac.in/pg. This development follows the release of previous provisional admission lists and aims to support further admissions for the 2026-27 academic session.

Overview of the PG Admission Process

The University of Gour Banga’s PG admission process for 2026 is structured to admit students into 23 postgraduate programs. The seat intake for these programs varies significantly, ranging from a minimum of 26 seats to a maximum of 122 seats per program for the current academic session. The admission process categorises applicants into ‘Home’ and ‘Other’ categories, reflecting different eligibility or domicile considerations.

The university had previously released the 1st PG Provisional Admission List 2026 on August 8, 2026. Candidates who were shortlisted in this initial list were required to complete their online fee payment between August 8 and August 9, 2026. Later, the second provisional admission list was scheduled for release on August 10, 2026, and the third provisional admission list was slated for August 12, 2026.

Merit List Preparation and Tie-Breaking Criteria

The University of Gour Banga prepares its PG Merit List 2026 based on the marks obtained by candidates in their qualifying examinations, in conjunction with the university’s established admission rules. Specific criteria are applied depending on the academic system under which candidates completed their undergraduate studies.

For candidates from the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), merit is determined by the aggregate percentage of marks in their Honours papers. Conversely, for candidates from the NEP system, merit is calculated based on the aggregate percentage of marks in their Single Major papers. In instances where a tie occurs between candidates, a set of defined tie-breaking criteria is applied. These include, in order of precedence, higher marks in the Minor subject (for NEP candidates), a higher percentage in Class 12, a higher percentage in Class 10, and finally, older age of the candidate.

Next Steps for Shortlisted Candidates

Candidates who are shortlisted through the merit process are required to submit the Online Form of Counselling (OFOC) within the timeline prescribed by the university. This step is crucial for formalising their admission. Also, all admissions remain provisional until the University of Gour Banga verifies all original academic documents and confirms the candidate’s eligibility.

At the time of admission or document verification, candidates must present both their original documents and self-attested photocopies of all relevant academic certificates and testimonials. This ensures that all submitted information is accurate and meets the university’s requirements for final admission.
