AIIMS M.Biotechnology 2026 Open Round registration opens 21 September

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has announced the Open Round of seat allocation for its M.Biotechnology program for the August 2026 admission session. This round follows earlier seat allocation processes and aims to fill remaining vacant seats. The official notice and the vacant seat position were published on September 9, 2026, on the AIIMS Examination Section website.

Candidates interested in securing a seat in the M.Biotechnology program must complete their registration for the Open Round between September 21 and 24, 2026. This final counselling round for the August 2026 session is crucial for eligible candidates who have not yet secured admission.

Eligibility and Application Details for Open Round

All candidates who met the minimum qualifying cutoff of the 50th percentile in the AIIMS MSc Biotechnology Entrance Exam 2026 are eligible to participate in the Open Round. The entrance examination, which consisted of 90 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 90 minutes, was conducted on June 13, 2026. Results for this exam were announced on July 20, 2026.

For M.Biotechnology, eligible candidates must possess a related degree such as MBBS, BDS, B.V.Sc., B.Pharmacy, Bachelor of Physiotherapy (minimum 4½ years), B.Sc. (minimum three years), or B.Tech (Biotechnology). Also, candidates need to have secured at least 60% marks in their qualifying degree for General/OBC/EWS categories and 55% for SC/ST candidates. The application fee for the entrance exam was INR 1,000 for General/OBC candidates and INR 800 for SC/ST candidates.

Seat Allocation Process and Important Dates

The seat allocation in the Open Round will be determined based on candidate merit, their eligibility, the availability of seats, and applicable category rules. AIIMS has published a separate vacant seat position specifically for this Open Round, which candidates are advised to review before registration. The first two rounds of counselling for the M.Sc. Biotechnology program commenced in August 2026, leading up to this final Open Round in September 2026.

Candidates who are allotted seats will be required to submit a security deposit during the reporting process. failure to complete all admission formalities within the stipulated period can lead to the cancellation of the allotted seat. The entire process, including registration and subsequent steps, will be conducted through the official AIIMS Examination Section portal, aiimsexams.ac.in.
