INI CET July 2026 session online seat allocation schedule released

AIIMS New Delhi has released the complete online seat allocation schedule for the INI CET July 2026 session, affecting candidates seeking admission to postgraduate courses across various Institutes of National Importance (INIs). The announcement was made on 20 September 2026, detailing the timeline for the counselling process.

The online seat allocation process will support admissions to MD, MS, MDS, DM (6 Years), and MCh (6 Years) courses. The INI CET July 2026 result was declared on 23 May 2026, following the examination held on 16 May 2026.

INI CET July 2026 Counselling Process and Key Dates

The counselling process for the INI CET July 2026 session is structured to include a Mock Round, Round 1, Round 2, and an Open Round. An additional stray vacancy process may be conducted if seats remain vacant after the initial rounds. The Mock Round commenced on 11 June 2026, designed to familiarise candidates with the counselling system and provide an estimate of potential allotments.

Round 1 serves as the first major seat allotment phase, where actual seats are allocated based on INI CET rank, category reservation, institute preference, seat availability, and locked choices. AIIMS generally does not permit fresh choice modification in Round 2, with choices locked during Round 1 typically being considered for subsequent rounds automatically. The Open Round addresses remaining vacant seats after the completion of the first two rounds. The result of the open round of online seat allocation has also been released.

Candidate Reporting and Document Verification

Candidates belonging to the Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) category who receive seat allotment are required to report to AIIMS New Delhi for disability certificate verification. This verification is scheduled for 25 June 2026 for Round 1 allotments and 11 July 2026 for Round 2 allotments. Strict document verification is a part of the reporting process, and missing reporting deadlines can result in the cancellation of an allotted seat.

The basic counselling process involves logging into the official AIIMS counselling portal, filling choices, saving preferences, submitting and locking choices, checking allotment results, accepting seats online, and reporting physically to the allotted institute. OBC certificates must be in the Central Government format, and all category certificates must remain valid. Last saved choices may auto-lock if not submitted manually.

Background of the INI CET Examination

The INI CET exam is a national-level entrance examination conducted by AIIMS, New Delhi, for admission to postgraduate medical courses across INIs such as AIIMS, JIPMER, PGIMER, NIMHANS, and SCTIMST. The exam is held twice a year, in January and July sessions. The July 2026 session exam was a computer-based test (CBT) with 200 multiple-choice questions, conducted for 180 minutes (3 hours).

The examination comprises four sections, each with 50 questions and a 45-minute time limit. The marking scheme awards +1 for each correct answer and deducts -1/3 for each wrong answer. The qualifying percentile for the Unreserved (UR) category, including OCI, EWS, Sponsored, and Foreign Nationals, is 50, while for OBC, SC, ST, PwBD, and Bhutanese Nationals applying to PGI Chandigarh, it is 45. The application fee for the INI CET exam was ₹4,000 for General and OBC candidates, and ₹3,200 for SC, ST, and EWS candidates, with PwBD candidates exempt from the fee.
