The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the list of documents required for JEE Main 2027 registration on its official portal, jeemain.nta.nic.in. The application window for Session 1 of JEE Main 2027 is open from October 24 to November 22, 2026.
This release aims to support the registration process for aspiring candidates, who are required to upload specific documents and ensure their personal details, particularly Aadhaar information, align with their academic records. The registration process has been enabled through the single sign-on service, Meri Pehchaan, of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
Key Documents and Upload Specifications
Applicants must keep several documents ready for the registration process, including their signature and Class 10th marksheet. Aspirants will be required to upload a live photograph at the time of filling the JEE Main 2027 application form. Scanned images of photograph, signature, Class 10 or equivalent certificate/marksheet, disability/UDID certificate (if applicable), and a Non-Indian passport (in case of Foreign National including OCI) must be uploaded.
The NTA has specified particular file sizes and formats for these uploads. The photograph must show 80% of the face visible (without a mask), including ears, against a white background, with a size ranging from 10 kb to 200 kb in JPG/JPEG format. The signature file size should be between 10 kb and 100 kb. The Class 10 mark sheet must be in PDF format, with a file size of 50 kb to 300 kb. Identity Proof file size should be 10 kb to 200 kb in JPG/JPEG format, and Disability/UDID Certificate file size should be 50KB to 300 KB. Candidates will not be able to edit any documents after submission, and failure to upload the required documents will lead to the rejection of the application form.
Aadhaar and Category Certificate Guidelines
Aspirants are advised to update their Aadhaar card details, ensuring they match their Class 10 certificate, including name, date of birth, photograph, address, and father’s name. The 2027 application form will fetch name, date of birth, photo, and address directly from Aadhaar. A live photograph will also be captured during the registration process. Candidates may now also be asked to provide their APAAR ID (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) as part of the verification process.
Candidates from reserved categories (Gen-EWS/SC/ST/OBC-NCL) have to provide their category number but are not required to upload any scans of the Category certificate during the application process. However, candidates applying under PwD must upload their disability certificate. The JEE Main required documents are the same for male and female students, though those who seek reservations are required to enter additional details for JEE Main registration.
Application Fees and Examination Changes
The application fees for JEE Main 2027 are expected to be similar to the 2026 rates. For male candidates, the fee for General/Unreserved category is INR 1,000, while for Gen-EWS/OBC-NCL (Male) it is INR 900. Female candidates across General/Gen-EWS/OBC-NCL categories are expected to pay INR 800. For SC/ST/PwD/Transgender candidates, the fee is INR 500.
Several changes have been introduced to the examination pattern for JEE Main 2027. Section B of the question paper will no longer include optional questions, making every question compulsory. Incorrect responses in numerical questions will now attract negative marks. The tie resolution order for ranking will be Mathematics, followed by Physics, then Chemistry. There is no age limit for applicants; candidates who passed Class 12 in 2024 or 2025, or appear in 2027, are eligible to apply. Session 1 exams are fixed for January 22, 23, 24, 28, 29, and 30, 2027, with a buffer day on January 31.
