MHT CET 2026 CAP Round 1 seat allotment completed, Round 2 option form submission by 9 August

Candidates were able to check their allotted seats on the official counselling portal, cetcell.mahacet.org, using their Application ID and Date of Birth. This initial round aimed to allocate seats based on candidates’ merit ranks, categories, stated preferences, and the availability of seats across various institutions.

Following the seat allotment, the online seat acceptance process, allowing candidates to either ‘Freeze’ or ‘Not Freeze’ their allotted seats, took place from August 3 to August 5, 2026, until 3:00 PM. Concurrently, reporting to the allotted institutes and confirming admissions for CAP Round 1 was scheduled from August 3 to August 5, 2026, concluding by 5:00 PM. The subsequent display of vacant seats for CAP Round 2 was made available on August 6, 2026, setting up for further admission rounds.

MHT CET 2026 CAP Round 1 and 2 Schedule

The Maharashtra CET Cell outlined a specific timeline for the initial two rounds of the MHT CET 2026 admission process. This schedule guided candidates through the seat allotment, acceptance, and subsequent option form submissions for those seeking betterment or who were not initially allotted a seat.

Candidates who were allotted their first preference seat had their allotment automatically frozen upon seat acceptance and were required to pay the prescribed seat acceptance fee. Those who received a seat other than their first preference had the option to either ‘Freeze’ the allotted seat or choose the ‘Not Freeze’ (Betterment) option to participate in subsequent rounds. Candidates not allotted a seat in CAP Round 1 were eligible to participate in upcoming CAP rounds without re-registering, provided they filled and confirmed fresh college preferences during the designated window for CAP Round 2, which was from August 7 to August 9, 2026.

Required Documents for Admission Confirmation

For candidates reporting to their allotted institutes to confirm admission, a thorough set of documents was mandated by the Maharashtra CET Cell. These documents were crucial for the final verification process and included academic records, identity proofs, and various certificates depending on the candidate’s category and specific claims.

The required documents included the MHT CET 2026 Score Card/Rank Card, Provisional Seat Allotment Letter, Seat Acceptance Fee Receipt, and the MHT CET 2026 Admit Card. Academic credentials such as Class 10 and 12 Mark Sheets and Passing Certificates, along with the School Leaving/Transfer Certificate, were also necessary. Other essential documents comprised a Valid Photo Identity Proof, Domicile Certificate (if applicable), and Migration Certificate (if applicable). For reserved category candidates, Caste Certificate, Caste Validity Certificate, Non-Creamy Layer Certificate (for applicable categories), EWS Certificate (if applicable), and PwD Certificate (if applicable) were mandatory. Also, an Income Certificate, Defence, Minority, or other reservation-related certificates (if applicable), and recent passport-size photographs were required for submission.

The State Common Entrance Test Cell has issued several important notices recently, addressing various admission processes and administrative matters. On September 11, 2026, the Cell invited applications for one Assistant Law Officer and one Special Duty Officer on a contractual basis for its office. This was followed by an important notice on September 9, 2026, concerning fees for Engineering Institutes for the Academic Year 2026–27. Another significant notice was released on September 7, 2026, regarding the Cut-Off Date for All Courses Under Technical Education for the Academic Year 2026–27.

Further notices from the Maharashtra CET Cell include an extension for submitting Caste Validity Certificates for candidates admitted under the centralized admission process for A.Y. 2026–27 for All Courses Under Technical Education and All Courses Under Higher Education, issued on September 4, 2026.
