NEET PG 2026 cutoff scores released: download scorecards from October 1

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) released the category-wise qualifying cutoff scores for NEET PG 2026 and declared the NEET-PG 2026 result on September 24, 2026. These results are for admission to MD, MS, DNB, DrNB (Direct 6-year course), and PG Medical Diploma courses for the 2026-27 session.

A total of 2,65,960 candidates appeared for the examination, including 2,63,544 for the main test on August 30, 2026, and 2,416 for a re-examination in Jaipur on September 5, 2026. The re-examination was necessary due to an internal power failure at two centres in Jaipur during the original test.

NEET PG 2026 Qualifying Cut-Off Scores

The NBEMS has specified different percentile and score requirements for various categories. General and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates must achieve the 50th percentile, corresponding to a cut-off score of 262 out of 720. For General candidates under the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) category, the minimum qualifying requirement is the 45th percentile, with a cut-off score of 244.

Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC), including PwBD candidates from these categories, are required to meet the 40th percentile, which translates to a cut-off score of 226 out of 720. The NEET PG 2026 exam carried a total of 720 marks, with a marking scheme of +4 for each correct answer, -1 for each incorrect answer, and 0 for unanswered questions. The exam duration was 3 hours and 30 minutes (210 minutes), with 180 questions.

Accessing Scorecards and Answer Key

Candidates will be able to download their individual NEET-PG 2026 scorecards from the official NBEMS website, natboard.edu.in, on or after October 1, 2026. These scorecards will remain available for download for six months from their date of issuance. The NEET-PG 2026 rank indicates a candidate’s overall position in the merit list among all candidates.

Plus scorecards, NBEMS will also make the NEET-PG 2026 answer key available on or after October 1, 2026. Candidates can view the answer key through their individual applicant login. No question was found to be technically incorrect during the post-examination review by faculty members. The candidature of all candidates remains provisional and is subject to the fulfilment of the eligibility criteria prescribed in the NEET-PG 2026 Information Bulletin.

Counselling Process and Previous Year Trends

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is responsible for conducting the 50% All India Quota (AIQ) counselling. The remaining 50% state-quota seats are counselled by each state’s own authority. The NEET PG 2026 result shows each candidate’s raw score and NEET-PG 2026 rank, which are crucial for the subsequent counselling process.

The NEET PG cut-off marks are subject to change annually due to various factors, including exam difficulty, the number of candidates, seat availability, reservation policies, and overall candidate performance. The qualifying cut-off is distinct from the admission cut-off, which depends on factors such as rank, score, category, quota, college, and speciality. For context, the NEET PG 2025 cut-off for General/EWS was 291 marks (50th percentile), and for NEET PG 2024, it was also 291 marks (50th percentile) for Unreserved (UR) candidates.
