The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) has extended the last date for NMAT 2026 slot booking and exam scheduling to October 25, 2026. This extension aligns with the revised registration deadline for the NMAT by GMAC exam, which is a national-level entrance test for admission to various business schools in India.

The NMAT 2026 exam delivery window is set to run from November 2, 2026, to December 20, 2026, offering candidates a testing period of approximately 49 days. The NMAT exam is owned and administered by GMAC and is accepted by 56 business schools across India, including institutions like the Indian School of Business and S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research.

NMAT 2026 Registration and Scheduling Process

GMAC has confirmed that the NMAT 2026 registration window and the exam scheduling window both conclude on October 25, 2026. Previously, some sources indicated the registration deadline as October 10, 2026, and the slot booking deadline as October 22, 2026. However, GMAC stated, “With the change in the last date for NMAT registration to October 25, the exam scheduling also stands extended to October 25, 2026.”

You can’t ignore for every candidate appearing for the NMAT 2026 exam to complete slot booking separately after registration. Completing registration alone, which involves creating a user profile, entering personal and educational details, choosing colleges, uploading a photograph, and paying the test fee, does not automatically assign an exam appointment. Candidates cannot access slot booking without first submitting the application form and fee payment before the registration window closes. The NMAT exam scheduling operates on a first-come, first-served basis.

NMAT Exam Structure and Acceptance

The NMAT by GMAC exam is a computer-adaptive online test conducted at test centers across more than 80 cities in India, and online proctored for test-takers outside India. It consists of three equally weighted sections: Language Skills, Quantitative Skills, and Logical Reasoning. Each section comprises 36 questions, and candidates are allotted 120 minutes to complete the entire exam. There is no negative marking in the NMAT exam, and scores range from 36 to a maximum of 360.

The NMAT exam is accepted by 56 business schools across India, including prominent institutions such as Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), K J Somaiya Institute of Management (KJSIM), and Flame University. The flexibility in choosing test dates and times, unlike many exams held on a single fixed date, makes the NMAT popular among aspirants planning around other MBA entrance tests like CAT, XAT, SNAP, MAT, and CMAT. Over 75,000 attempts are made for the NMAT exam every year.
