Eligibility and Scholarship Details

To be eligible for the NMMS, parental income must not exceed Rs. 3,50,000 per annum. Students must be regular attendees of government or aided schools and have passed the 7th standard with a minimum of 55% marks, or 50% for SC/ST students (as per Kerala’s criteria for 2022-2023). The syllabus for the NMMS includes Class 7th and 8th material from NCERT and State boards.

Students must pass the NMMS Examination with an aggregate score of at least 40% in MAT and SAT, with a reduced requirement of 32% for SC/ST students. While qualifying the exam is a prerequisite, it does not guarantee the scholarship, which is awarded based on merit and the number of seats allocated to each state. For instance, in Madhya Pradesh, 6,446 students receive NMMS scholarships. The scholarship amount of Rs. 12,000 per year is disbursed from Class 9 to Class 12.
