RUHS Pharmacy Admission Test counselling on 23 September; UPESPAT exam today

Prospective Ph.D. candidates in Pharmacology and Toxicology in Uttarakhand are currently navigating admission processes, with key dates for entrance examinations and counselling occurring this week. The RUHS Pharmacy Admission Test counselling is set for September 23, 2026, while the UPES Pharma Aptitude Test (UPESPAT) is being conducted online today, September 22, 2026.

Uttarakhand, particularly Dehradun, is recognized as an education hub, hosting various research bodies such as the Forest Research Institute (FRI) and Wildlife Institute of India (WII). This concentration provides opportunities for interdisciplinary research, especially in fields like Environmental Science and Forestry, influencing the scope of Ph.D. programs available.

Ph.D. Program Offerings and Eligibility in Uttarakhand

Several institutions in Uttarakhand are offering Ph.D. programs in related pharmaceutical sciences. Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU) Dehradun, a private institution with a rating of 4.1/5 based on four reviews, offers a Ph.D. in Pharmacology with fees amounting to ₹7.96 Lakhs. DIT University, Dehradun, and Amrapali Group of Institutes also provide Ph.D. in Pharmacy programs.

The general eligibility for a Ph.D. requires a Master’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 55% marks, or 50% for reserved categories, as per UGC norms. Candidates holding a valid UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, GATE, SLET, or JRF score are typically exempt from university entrance tests. The duration for a full-time Ph.D. is a minimum of three years and a maximum of six years, including coursework, while a part-time Ph.D. spans a minimum of four years and a maximum of eight years.

Amrapali Group of Institutes requires a Master’s degree in the relevant field with 50-55 percent aggregate marks and a valid Ph.D. entrance exam score for admission. A Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences generally focuses on drug design, development, and delivery.

Fee Structures and Financial Assistance

The fees for Ph.D. programs vary across institutions. GB Pant University of Agriculture & Technology (GBPUAT) offers a Ph.D. in Pharmacology & Toxicology with a total fee of ₹91,200. At Amrapali Group of Institutes, the tuition fee per semester for a Ph.D. in Pharmacy is ₹37,500 for Uttarakhand candidates and ₹50,000 for All India candidates.

Chitkara University’s Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences includes an enrolment fee of ₹30,000, a Career Advancement Services Fee of ₹20,000, and Course Work Fees of ₹25,000 for each of the three course work components. Financial assistance is available at some institutions; for instance, full-time scholars at UPES may receive a 75% waiver on the program semester fee and a monthly fellowship (stipend) of up to ₹30,000. JRF recipients receive a monthly stipend of ₹31,000, and SRF recipients receive ₹35,000, both with additional HRA.

Md Pharmacology Admissions and Cutoffs

For MD Pharmacology, a postgraduate course with a three-year duration, there are 416 colleges and hospitals offering the program, with a total of 1,614 seats available. Tuition fees for MD Pharmacology vary significantly by quota. Government Quota tuition fees range from ₹1,000 per year to ₹12,95,000 per year, while Management Quota fees are between ₹10,000 per year and ₹36,00,000 per year. NRI Quota tuition fees range from $2,500 per year to ₹40,81,014 per year.

The NEET PG 2025 closing cutoff scores for Round-1 MCC Counselling were 401 for the ST category, 445 for SC, 530 for OBC, 553 for GN, and 482 for EWS. The total MD Pharmacology seats allotted during 2025 AIQ counselling for these categories were 25 for ST, 53 for SC, 105 for OBC, 138 for GN, and 40 for EWS.
