The application window for this two-month research experience will close on 30 November 2026.

The program, jointly run by the three national science academies in Bengaluru, New Delhi, and Prayagraj, aims to provide selected students with an assigned research guide and practical experience. The announcement regarding the fellowship program was initially made on 10 September 2026.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

Prospective applicants for the Science Academies Summer Research Fellowship Program 2027 must meet specific academic criteria. A 65% average in core subjects, calculated from Class X onwards and excluding languages, is mandatory. The program is open to students in specific years of listed courses, such as the second year of a BSc or the second and third years of a BTech or BCA.

Besides academic qualifications, applicants are required to submit a write-up of 150 to 250 words detailing their learning objectives and aspirations for the fellowship. A recommendation letter from a teacher familiar with the applicant’s work is also a necessary component of the application.

Program Structure and Benefits

The Science Academies Summer Research Fellowship Program 2027 offers selected students a two-month research experience under the guidance of an assigned mentor. Participants will receive a monthly fellowship, as stated in the program announcement, “to meet their living expenses.” Also, the academies will cover travel expenses for selected students, specifically paying for train fare for both onward and return journeys.
