The S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) today, October 28, 2026, opened Phase 2 applications for its Global Management Programme (GMP) January 2027 cohort. The programme is designed to prepare students for leadership roles in the global business world, offering a dual qualification from SPJIMR and an international partner institution.
This intake follows previous cohorts, including June 2023 and January 2026, and is open to students from diverse academic backgrounds, encompassing business, engineering, social sciences, and humanities. SPJIMR, consistently ranked among the top ten business schools in India, holds ‘triple crown’ accreditations from EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA.
Programme Structure and Curriculum
The GMP is structured in two phases. The initial six months involve foundational management studies and language training at SPJIMR’s Mumbai campus. Following this, students transfer to an international partner school for a period of six to eighteen months to pursue MS/MBA degrees with specialisations such as business analytics, international business, and investment analysis.
The curriculum includes pre-term foundation courses from Harvard Business Publishing Education, covering core subjects like Leadership, Strategy, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain and Operations, and Data Science. Mandatory courses also include Project Management, Design Thinking, and Quantitative Methods for Decision Science. Participants are required to undertake foreign language training in German, French, or Dutch.
“SPJIMR equips participants with a strong academic foundation to seamlessly transition to partner schools abroad. With our Triple Crown—EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA—accreditation and India’s #1 B-school ranking, our students benefit from international credit recognition, reduced programme durations, and enhanced scholarship opportunities. The January intake is an incredible opportunity for aspiring professionals to accelerate personal and professional growth on a global stage,” said Prof. Milind Kamat, Chairperson, GMP.
Graduates receive MS/MBA degrees from their international partner schools and GMP certificates from SPJIMR, granting them dual alumni status from both institutions.
Eligibility and Application Process
To be eligible for the GMP, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in any stream with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent CGPA. Candidates in their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply. Both freshers and individuals with prior work experience are considered for admission. Valid GMAT, CAT, XAT, NMAT, or GRE scores are a mandatory requirement for eligibility.
The selection process begins with a preliminary screening of the application, which includes Letters of Recommendation, a Statement of Purpose, and a video essay. Shortlisting is based on a full profile evaluation, considering academics, work experience, versatility, and achievements. Shortlisted candidates are then invited for an interview, currently conducted via Skype or Zoom. The first round of interviews is conducted by SPJIMR faculty members. Candidates who plain this round receive an email from the admissions office within two days, after which the partner school connects with the candidate for their interview. Final interviews are conducted on a rolling basis in coordination with international partner schools.
International Partner Schools
The programme collaborates with several international partner schools, which for the January 2026 cohort included institutions in the USA such as Brandeis International Business School, Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, Stevens School of Business, University of Miami College of Engineering, USC Marshall School of Business, and Muma College of Business at the University of South Florida. European partners included Aston Business School and EBS Business School. The University of Maryland, a partner school, has a history stretching back to 1856 as the Maryland Agricultural College.
Candidates are encouraged to apply as early as possible due to limited spaces. Applicants should also check their spam mail for interview invitations and contact the GMP Admissions Team if an invitation is not received within 5-7 days.
