  • Paper 1: 50 questions (General / Teaching & Research Aptitude) — 100 marks

  • Paper 2: 100 questions (Domain Subject) — 200 marks

Candidates who find discrepancies or errors in the provisional answer key will have an opportunity to challenge specific questions online during the designated objection window.

  • Processing Fee: ₹200 per question challenged.

  • Refund Policy: The challenge fee is non-refundable. However, if an objection is validated and accepted by NTA’s panel of subject experts, the fee for that specific question will be refunded directly to the candidate’s source bank account.

  • Documentation Requirement: Candidates must upload verified academic proof or reference documents as a single PDF supporting their claim.

  • Mode of Submission: Challenges will only be accepted online via the login portal. Offline submissions (via mail, fax, or email) will not be entertained.

Qualifying Criteria & Final Result Expectations

Following the evaluation of all candidate challenges, NTA will release the Final Answer Key, which forms the basis for preparing the final UGC NET June 2026 scorecards and cutoffs.

  1. Qualifying Threshold: To be eligible for consideration, General/EWS candidates must secure at least 40% aggregate marks across Paper 1 and Paper 2 combined, while reserved category candidates (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, and third gender) require a minimum of 35% aggregate marks.

  2. Top 6% Rule: Only the top 6% of total appearing candidates across all subjects will be declared qualified for assistant professor eligibility. A smaller percentage among these toppers will qualify for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and PhD admission programs.

The official UGC NET June 2026 results and cutoffs are expected to be announced on ugcnet.nta.nic.in in August 2026. Candidates are advised to keep their application numbers and credentials ready and regularly monitor the official website for live portal activation links.
