University of Ladakh postpones 3rd convocation, reopens admission portal until 7 October 2026

The University of Ladakh announced today, 6 October 2026, the postponement of its 3rd Convocation Ceremony 2026. Concurrently, the university has reopened its admission portal for undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programmes for the Academic Session 2026–27, offering a final opportunity for eligible candidates to register.

The convocation, initially scheduled for 1 October 2026 in Leh, was postponed due to unavoidable circumstances. The reopening of the admission portal provides a special, one-time permission for candidates who were unable to complete their registration previously, with a strict deadline of 7 October 2026.
Convocation Ceremony Details and Eligibility
The 3rd Convocation Ceremony 2026 of the University of Ladakh, as per notification No. COE/UOL/2026/CONVOCATION/34/65 dated 28 August 2026, has been postponed. While the new date has not been announced, the venue in Leh and other details remain as previously notified by the University of Ladakh.
Eligible candidates for the convocation included UG candidates from the Session-2022 and PG candidates from the Session-2023 who passed their Semester-end Examinations as Regular students. PhD candidates successfully declared eligible for conferring the Doctorate of Philosophy were also invited. Degree Certificates were to be awarded ‘In-Person’ and ‘In-Absentia’ during the ceremony.
Reopened Admission Portal for 2026-27 Academic Session
The University of Ladakh has granted a special, one-time permission to eligible candidates who could not complete their registration for admission to UG and PG Programmes for the Academic Session 2026–27. The Admission Portal has been reopened specifically for these candidates to complete their registration/admission process. This extension is final, and no further reopening of the portal will be entertained beyond 7 October 2026.
Prospective students are advised to complete their applications promptly to secure their admission for the current academic cycle. The university, established in 2019, is the only trans-Himalayan institute for higher learning and research, with campuses in both Leh and Kargil.
Postgraduate Courses and Fee Structure
The University of Ladakh offers postgraduate courses across Arts, Science, and Commerce streams. Popular PG programs include M.A, M.Sc, and M.Com. The M.Com course is a two-year, on-campus, full-time program, requiring a B.Com degree for eligibility. The total fee for the M.Com course is ₹21,050.
The overall PG fees at the University of Ladakh range from ₹21,050 to ₹33,050. M.A fees range from ₹21,050 to ₹31,050, while M.Sc fees are ₹33,050. The university began its first academic programs in 2020 with ten master’s courses, adding seven more in 2021, and now also offers PhD programs.

University Infrastructure and Mission
The University of Ladakh, with its headquarters and campuses in both Leh and Kargil, operates six constituent degree colleges. Its administrative office is located at Kurbathang, Kargil, UT Ladakh — 194103, while the Leh campus is situated at Taru Thang, Leh, UT Ladakh — 194101. The university is connected by 234 km of the Srinagar–Leh Highway, traversing Fotu La (4,108m) and Namika La (3,700m).
The Vice-Chancellor stated that the “University of Ladakh is not just an institution of learning but a dynamic space for transformation — Rooted in Tradition, Focused on the Future.” The university aims to help students realize their potential, contribute to society, and support regional and national development. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited within the university premises.
