AP PGECET 2026 Phase 1 counselling registration extended: apply by 27 September

The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) has extended the Phase 1 counselling registration deadline for the AP PGECET 2026 until September 27, 2026. This extension provides additional time for eligible candidates to complete their registration for postgraduate engineering and pharmacy admissions across AICTE-approved colleges in Andhra Pradesh.

The AP PGECET is the Andhra Pradesh Post Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test, supporting admissions for BTech and BPharm graduates into MTech, ME, MPharm, or Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) programmes. The counselling process, which began in June 2026, is a crucial step for securing seats in these postgraduate courses.

AP PGECET 2026 Application and Exam Timeline

The registration process for AP PGECET 2026 initially opened on February 6, 2026. The last date to apply without a late fee was next extended to March 16, 2026. Following this, late-fee applications were accepted until April 1, 2026, after multiple extensions.

The computer-based test (CBT) for AP PGECET 2026 was conducted from April 28 to April 30, 2026, across three days with two sessions per day. Admit cards were released on April 15, 2026, and the correction window for application forms was activated on April 3, 2026. The results and rank cards for the examination were released in May 2026.

Eligibility and Application Details

To be eligible for AP PGECET, candidates must hold a BTech, BE, BPharm, or an equivalent degree with a minimum of 50% marks. A relaxation is provided for reserved categories, requiring 45% marks. The examination is conducted by Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, on behalf of APSCHE.

The application fee for the Open Category (OC) is Rs 1,200. For BC / OBC candidates, the fee is Rs 900, while for SC / ST / PH candidates, it is Rs 700. This fee is non-refundable, and payment can be made online through credit card, debit card, net banking, UPI, or at AP Online Help Centres. Candidates applying for more than one test paper are required to pay an additional course fee, as AP PGECET follows a fee-first model for registration.

Exam Format and Admission Process

The AP PGECET examination is a computer-based test (CBT) consisting of 120 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), with a total of 120 marks. Candidates are allotted two hours to complete the exam, which is conducted entirely in English, and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers, based on what prepp.in. The exam was held from April 28 to April 30, 2026, across three days with two sessions per day.

During the registration process, candidates are required to select a minimum of five test cities in their order of preference. A printed copy of the submitted application form is mandatory on the exam day, along with the admit card. Notably, candidates possessing a valid GATE score are eligible for admission through the same counselling process without needing to appear for the AP PGECET examination itself, as reported by prepp.in.
