MAH 3-Year LLB CAP 2026: Round 2 Option Form Filling Begins; Check Allotment Date and Seat Matrix

The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, Maharashtra, has officially opened the online portal for Centralised Admission Process (CAP) Round 2 college preference submission for the 3-Year LLB programme for the 2026–27 academic session. Eligible candidates who appeared for the entrance examination and cleared document verification can now choose, arrange, and submit their law college preferences through the official website, llb3cap26.mahacet.org.

The option form portal went live on August 24, 2026, and candidates have a three-day window until August 26, 2026, to finalize and lock their choices. Following the option form deadline, the State CET Cell will publish the CAP Round 2 Seat Allotment Result on August 29, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

Round 1 Admission Review & Current Vacancies

The commencement of Round 2 follows the successful conclusion of the first admission round, which saw high competition among law aspirants across the state.

  • Round 1 Choice Submission: A total of 40,403 candidates submitted their college options during Round 1.

  • Provisional Allotments: Out of these, 14,948 applicants were provisionally allotted seats based on their CET merit rank, category quota, and choices.

  • Confirmed Admissions: By the end of the mandatory reporting window on August 22, exactly 5,771 candidates finalized their admissions by physically reporting to their respective institutions, leaving thousands of seats vacant for Round 2.

  • Vacant Seat Matrix: The CET Cell officially released the category-wise vacancy list on August 23, 2026, across 215 participating law colleges—including premier institutions like Government Law College (GLC), Mumbai, and ILS Law College, Pune.

Revised ‘Betterment’ Rules: Critical Warning for Candidates

The CET Cell has issued updated, strict guidelines regarding the “Betterment” option for Round 2:

  1. Automatic Seat Cancellation on Re-Ordering: Candidates who secured a seat in Round 1 and opted for Betterment must exercise caution. If you modify, add, or rearrange your preferences for Round 2 and receive a new seat allotment based on the revised sequence, your Round 1 seat will be automatically cancelled and rendered unrecoverable.

  2. Retaining Original Preferences: Candidates wishing to participate in Betterment without risking a lower-ranked preference can submit their form without altering the original Round 1 order. If a seat in a higher-priority institution opens up, it will be assigned; otherwise, the original Round 1 seat remains protected.

  3. Mandatory Action for Unallotted Candidates: Applicants who did not receive any seat allocation in Round 1 must log in and submit an updated option form to be considered for Round 2.

Step-by-Step Guide to Fill the Round 2 Option Form

Candidates must complete the choice-filling process carefully to avoid mistakes during allotment:
