BITS Pilani Goa Convocation 2026 Conducted on 10th August 2026, 1109 Students Receive Degrees

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani Goa conducted its Convocation 2026 on August 10, 2026, at the K K Birla Goa Campus. A total of 1,109 students were awarded their degrees during the ceremony. Shamit Khetan received the Gold Medal among first-degree students for his outstanding academic performance, while several other students were recognised for their achievements across different academic categories.

The convocation also highlighted BITS Pilani Goa’s recent academic and research developments, including new programmes in emerging fields, sponsored research projects and international collaborations. The institute used the occasion to showcase its continued focus on interdisciplinary education, innovation and global academic engagement.

Distinguished Guests at BITS Pilani Goa Convocation 2026

Rakesh Kumar Verma, co-founder, chairman and managing director of MapmyIndia, attended the convocation as the chief guest. Verma is also a BITS alumnus.

During his address, Verma encouraged graduates to remain adaptable and resilient. He emphasised that technology should be used as a tool while human judgment, curiosity and decision-making remain important, particularly with the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence.

BITS Pilani Group Vice Chancellor V Ramgopal Rao and Goa campus Director Suman Kundu were also present at the ceremony.

Rao highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary education and said that the institute is redesigning its curriculum to provide greater flexibility through cross-disciplinary electives and expanded minors.

Raghurama Outstanding Student Award 2025-26

The Raghurama Outstanding Student Award for 2025-26 was jointly awarded to:

  • Aarya Ameet Agavekar
  • Himangi Aggarwal
  • Shamit Khetan

The award recognised their overall performance during the academic year.

BITS Pilani Goa Academic Innovations

BITS Pilani Goa has expanded its academic offerings with programmes focused on emerging technologies and interdisciplinary learning.

Key additions include:

  • ME in Quantum Science and Technology
  • ME in Quantum Information Processing
  • Minor in Computing and Intelligence
  • 2+2 undergraduate Computer Science programme in collaboration with RMIT University, Australia

The 2+2 programme provides students with an opportunity to gain international academic exposure and pursue dual-degree opportunities.

BITS Pilani Goa Research and International Collaborations

The Goa campus also highlighted its research and internationalisation initiatives during the convocation.
