BPSC TRE 4.0 application begins for 32,388 teacher posts; apply by 26 October 2026

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) initiated the online application process for the Bihar Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE 4.0) 2026 today, September 25, 2026. This recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 32,388 teaching posts across various levels in Bihar government schools.

The application window will remain open until October 26, 2026, with the last date for fee payment set for October 25, 2026. This marks the fourth major phase of the Bihar School Teacher Recruitment Examination, following a revised notification issued on September 22, 2026, which superseded an earlier notification dated August 18, 2026.

Application Process and Key Dates

Candidates interested in applying for the BPSC TRE 4.0 must visit the official BPSC recruitment portal to complete their One-Time Registration (OTR) before proceeding with the application. The application fee is Rs 100 for all candidates, irrespective of their category (General, OBC, EWS, SC, ST, and PwD), and can be paid through an online payment gateway.

The BPSC TRE 4.0 Notification 2026, under Advertisement No. 15/2026, outlines the specific deadlines for the application process. The examination dates are yet to be announced by the commission.

Vacancy Distribution and Eligibility Criteria

A total of 32,388 teaching vacancies have been announced, distributed across Primary (Classes 1-5), Middle School (Classes 6-8), Secondary (Classes 9-10), and Senior Secondary (Classes 11-12) levels. The number of vacancies may be subject to increase or decrease based on revisions from the Education Department.

Age criteria for applicants vary by teaching level. For Primary and Middle School Teacher posts, the minimum age is 18 years as of August 1, 2026. For Secondary and Senior Secondary Teacher posts, the minimum age is 21 years as of August 1, 2026. Maximum age limits are 37 years for UR-Male candidates, 40 years for UR-Female, BC/EBC-Male & Female candidates, and 42 years for SC/ST-Male & Female candidates, all calculated as of August 1, 2026.

Educational qualifications are specific to each teaching level. Primary Teachers require Class 12 with D.Ed, JBT or B.El.Ed, and CTET/BTET Paper-I. Middle School Teachers need Graduation with B.Ed or B.El.Ed and CTET/BTET Paper-II. Secondary Teachers must have Graduation with B.Ed or B.El.Ed and STET Paper-I. Senior Secondary Teachers require a Postgraduate degree with B.Ed or B.El.Ed and STET Paper-II.

Selection Process and Examination Details

The selection process for BPSC TRE 4.0 includes a written examination, followed by document verification and a medical examination. A significant change in this recruitment cycle is the introduction of 1/3 negative marking for each wrong answer or unanswered question (without selecting option E) in both the preliminary and main examinations.

The preliminary examination consists of an objective-type General Studies paper, carrying 150 marks and having a duration of 2 hours. Minimum qualifying marks for the preliminary examination are 40% for General category candidates, 36.5% for BC, 34% for EBC, and 32% for SC/ST/women/Divyang candidates.

Required Documents and Application Procedure

Candidates are required to upload several scanned documents during the online application process. These include educational certificates, STET certificates (if applicable), category certificates, a live photograph, and a signature. Mandatory One-Time Registration (OTR) is a prerequisite for applying.

Further, the BPSC has integrated DigiLocker for document verification and mandates a Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) Unique ID. A biometric fee of Rs 200 will be charged if Aadhaar details are not entered. Candidates must also provide a self-declaration for eligibility, experience, and category claims.

4. Upload scanned educational certificates, STET certificates (where applicable), category certificates, a live photograph, and signature.
