CAT 2026 application correction window opens October 5: edit photo, signature, test city

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore, the conducting authority for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2026, has announced that the application correction window will open on October 5, 2026. Registered candidates will have a limited period to modify specific details in their submitted application forms.

The correction window will be accessible from 10:00 AM on October 5, 2026, until 5:00 PM on October 6, 2026, via the official website, iimcat.ac.in. This facility is provided free of cost to all candidates who successfully registered and paid the registration fee for CAT 2026.

Editable and Non-Editable Fields

Candidates will be permitted to make corrections to their passport photograph, scanned signature, and test state/city preferences. However, several critical fields will remain non-editable. These include the candidate’s full name, date of birth (DOB), registered mobile number, registered email ID, state and category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), academic marks, and work experience.

The application correction window aims to allow candidates to rectify minor errors in their visual submissions and preferred test locations. No further extensions will be provided beyond the October 6 deadline for corrections.

Important Dates and Eligibility Criteria

The CAT 2026 registration process commenced on August 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM. The registration officially closed on September 22, 2026, according to iimcat.ac.in and PW.live, although NDTV had reported a September 15 closing date. The CAT 2026 examination is scheduled to be conducted on Sunday, November 29, 2026, in computer-based test mode.

Admit cards for the examination will be available for download from November 4 to November 29, 2026. The results for CAT 2026 are expected to be declared in the first week of January 2027, with the scores remaining valid until December 31, 2027.

To be eligible for CAT 2026, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks or an equivalent CGPA. A relaxation is provided for candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwBD categories, who require a minimum of 45% marks. Candidates in the final year of their bachelor’s degree or awaiting their final results are also eligible to apply.

Guidelines for Photograph and Signature Upload

Specific guidelines have been provided for uploading the photograph and signature. The passport photograph must be in JPG or JPEG format, with a maximum size of 80 KB. Its dimensions should be 30 mm (width) x 45 mm (height), with a minimum resolution of 150 px/inch, and it must have a plain white background.

The scanned signature should also be in JPG or JPEG format, with a maximum size of 80 KB. The dimensions for the signature are 80 mm (width) x 35 mm (height), and it must be a black or blue pen signature on clean white paper.

Steps to Make Corrections

Registered candidates wishing to make corrections to their CAT 2026 application must visit the official website, iimcat.ac.in. Upon arrival, they should click on the ‘Existing User / Candidate Login’ tab and proceed to enter their User ID and Password, which were generated during the initial registration process. This login will grant access to their candidate dashboard.

Once logged in, candidates will find an ‘Edit Application Form’ option, which they should click to initiate the correction process. Here, they can update their passport photograph, scanned signature, or preferred test city order. After making the necessary changes, this is make-or-break for candidates to carefully re-check all modifications, accept the declaration, and then click ‘Submit’ to finalize their application before the deadline of October 6, 2026, at 5:00 PM. No further extensions will be provided.
