CBSE 2027: Submit LOC by Oct 21; date sheet expected Jan

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has initiated the submission process for the List of Candidates (LOC) for the Class 10 and Class 12 Board Examinations 2027. This process commenced on September 24, 2026, and is applicable to students across approximately 32,000 CBSE-affiliated schools in India and 26 other countries. The board will also shortly begin the registration process for students of Classes 9 and 11.

In conjunction with these developments, CBSE organized a live webinar on ‘Relevance of Registration & LOC’ on September 29, 2026. The event, held at the Auditorium of the CBSE Integrated Office in Dwarka, New Delhi, and live-streamed on the board’s official YouTube channel, aimed to enhance transparency and provide guidance on examination-related procedures.

Webinar on Registration and LOC Process

The webinar on ‘Relevance of Registration & LOC’ for the 2027 Board Examinations was a continuation of previous CBSE circulars concerning LOC submission and the correction of students’ demographic details. Senior CBSE officials, including the Controller of Examinations, delivered presentations explaining critical aspects of the registration and LOC processes to ensure accuracy of student information.

More than 450 school principals and educators attended the program in person, with others participating via the live stream. A live Q&A session allowed principals and teachers to pose questions directly to CBSE officials. The board emphasized the importance of timely and accurate submission of registration and LOC data, particularly student particulars and subject combinations, while also highlighting compliance with fee provisions and proper implementation of provisions for Children with Special Needs (CWSN).

Key Dates and Fees for LOC Submission

The submission window for the List of Candidates (LOC) for the 2027 Board Examinations opened on September 24, 2026. Schools are advised to adhere to the specified deadlines to avoid late fees. The correction window for LOC data is scheduled for early November 2026.

Eligibility criteria for Class 12 candidates require them to have passed Class 10 from a recognized board by 2025 to be eligible for the 2027 Board Exams. Also, a minimum of 75% cumulative classroom attendance is mandatory for students to receive hall tickets, with exceptions made for documented medical emergencies.

Anticipated Date Sheet and Examination Changes

While the CBSE Class 10 and 12 date sheet for 2027 has not yet been released, it is expected to be published in December 2026 or January 2027. The Board Exams 2027 are anticipated to commence in February 2027. CBSE has confirmed three significant changes for the 2027 examinations, aligning with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 recommendations.

These changes include a stricter registration process, a revised question pattern, and an expanded dual-exam option for Class 10 students. Fifty percent of the questions in the 2027 board exams will be competency-based, shifting the focus from rote memorization to critical inquiry and conceptual mastery. Class 10 students will have a main board exam in February–March 2027 and an optional second exam in May 2027 for up to three subjects, aiming to ease high-stakes exam pressure. CBSE has also released updated Competency-Based Question Booklets across major subjects for 2027.
