CEED 2027: Register by October 31 for regular fee; late fee until November 6

IIT Bombay will commence the online application process for the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) 2027 on October 1, 2026. This national-level examination supports admissions to Master of Design (M.Des) and PhD programs offered by IITs and other participating design schools.

Aspirants seeking admission to these postgraduate design courses must register through the official portal, ceed.iitb.ac.in, by the stipulated deadlines. The CEED score remains valid for one year from the date of result declaration, and candidates must apply directly to individual participating institutes as no centralized counselling is conducted.

CEED 2027 Registration Schedule and Application Fees

The online registration window for CEED 2027 with a regular fee will open on October 1, 2026, at 1:00 pm, and will close on October 31, 2026. Candidates who miss this initial deadline can still register with a late fee of INR 500 until November 6, 2026, by 5:00 pm. The examination itself is scheduled for January 18, 2027, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.

The application fee structure varies by category. Female candidates, as well as those belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories, are required to pay approximately INR 2,000. For all other categories, the application fee is approximately INR 4,000. A late fee of INR 500 will be added to these amounts for registrations submitted after October 31, 2026.

Required Documents for CEED 2027 Application

Applicants must prepare several documents in specified formats and sizes for upload during the registration process. These include a recent color photograph taken within the last six months and a scanned copy of the candidate’s signature. The photograph must be a .jpg file between 5 KB and 100 KB, while the signature should be a .jpg file between 2 KB and 50 KB.

For academic qualifications, a scanned copy of the degree/diploma certificate (.pdf file) is required if the course is completed. If the final degree certificate is unavailable, candidates can upload a copy of their final year mark list or provisional certificate. Those whose courses are not yet completed must provide a certificate from their Principal or Head of the department in the format specified in Appendix 1, also as a .pdf file. All PDF documents, including certificates, must not exceed 500 KB in size.

Category-Specific Documentation and Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying under EWS, SC, ST, or OBC-NCL categories must submit relevant certificates (.pdf file) issued by appropriate authorities. EWS and OBC-NCL certificates issued on or after April 1, 2025, are accepted for the examination. However, if selected for admission, candidates will be required to produce a category certificate valid for the following year, issued on or after April 1, 2026.

Applicants under the physical disability (PwD) category must provide a valid UDID card/certificate or a medical certificate (.pdf file) explicitly stating that the disability is at least 40% to avail reservation benefits. Dyslexic candidates require an additional certificate from their college Principal or Head of Institution, as per Appendix, confirming the disability is severe and permanent. PwD candidates needing a scribe must also upload a certificate if applicable. Those with a name change must submit a gazette notification, bona fide marriage certificate, or scanned passport pages reflecting the change.

Regarding eligibility, applicants must have completed or be appearing in a degree, diploma, or postgraduate course of at least three years duration after 10+2 by July 2026. A GD Arts diploma (10+5 level) completed by July 2026 is also accepted. There is no age limit for appearing in CEED, and candidates are permitted an unlimited number of attempts.

Steps for CEED 2027 Online Registration

The online application process for the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) 2027 will commence on October 1, 2026, at 1:00 pm, as announced by IIT Bombay. Applicants are required to select three exam centers in order of preference before uploading all necessary scanned documents in the specified formats and sizes. Finally, the applicable application fee must be paid online, and the submitted form along with login details should be retained for future reference, including scorecard downloads.

7. Submit the form and retain login details for future use, including downloading the scorecard.
