JEE Main 2027 admit card download: common issues and solutions for aspirants

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has outlined potential issues and solutions for candidates attempting to download their JEE Main 2027 admit cards. Admit cards for Session 1 are expected to be released in January 2027, and for Session 2 in March/April 2027, approximately three to four days before the respective examination dates.

Candidates will need their application number and date of birth or password to access the admit card from the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. The admit card is a mandatory document for entry to the examination center and for subsequent JoSAA counselling.

Understanding Admit Card Release and Access

The JEE Main 2027 admit card serves as an essential entry pass, containing critical details such as the candidate’s name, roll number, application number, photograph, signature, exam date, shift timing, reporting time, and exam center address. The NTA, established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, aims to ensure equitable and quality assessments, and the official schedule for JEE Main 2027 is typically released with the information bulletin between October and December 2026.

Admit cards are a lot released in a staggered manner, date by date, rather than all at once. The city intimation slip, which provides only the exam city, is released before the admit card, which contains the exact center address and shift timing.

Addressing Common Download Problems

Candidates may encounter several issues while attempting to download their admit cards. These frequently include website not opening, login errors, CAPTCHA problems, or the admit card not displaying after successful login. These problems often stem from heavy traffic congestion on the NTA website, slow internet connections, or server issues due to a large number of candidates accessing the portal simultaneously.

Incorrect login credentials, such as application number or date of birth/password, will also prevent download. Only candidates with successfully paid application fees and complete registrations will be able to download the admit card; rejected applications due to incomplete details will not be issued one. If the website is slow or showing errors, candidates are advised to wait and try again, preferably during early morning or late night hours, and to avoid repeatedly refreshing the page, which can worsen the issue or temporarily block access. Trying a different browser or device may also resolve download problems.

Mandatory Documents and Exam Day Guidelines

On the day of the examination, candidates must carry a printed copy of the admit card, a valid original photo ID (such as Aadhaar, PAN, passport, driving licence, voter ID, or school/college photo ID), and one passport-size photograph, identical to the one uploaded during registration, to be affixed on the attendance sheet. A self-declaration form, verifying health status, will be attached to Page 1 of the admit card. Candidates must fill out, sign, paste a photograph, and put a left-hand thumb impression on this form, but the candidate’s signature should only be done in front of the invigilator.

The NTA uses AI for face recognition at the center, and blurred photos on the admit card may trigger additional scrutiny. The QR Code on the admit card must be clearly visible and not smudged for lab allotment scanning. Diabetic candidates are permitted to bring fresh fruits, sugar tablets, and a transparent water bottle, but packaged foods like chips, chocolates, and sandwiches are prohibited. Electronic devices, stationery, pencil boxes, purses, wallets, and handbags are among the items not allowed inside the exam center. For the B.Arch. paper, candidates must bring their own geometry set, color pencils, erasers, and pencils; water colors are not required.

Discrepancies and Contact Information

In the event of any discrepancies on the admit card, such as a spelling mistake or photo mismatch, candidates must immediately contact the NTA helpdesk. While candidates are generally allowed to appear for the exam with such errors, they must report them to the NTA for correction in permanent records.
