UP Board Class 12 practical exam 2027 from January 27; new 80-20 marks pattern

The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has announced the schedule for the UP Board Class 12 Practical Examinations 2027, which are set to take place in January and February 2027. These examinations are a mandatory component of the Class 12 Board Examinations for the academic session 2026-27 and will be conducted across all UP Board affiliated schools.

A significant change for the upcoming academic session is the revised examination pattern, where all subjects will now carry 80 marks for the written paper and 20 marks for practicals or internal assessments. This marks a departure from previous years, where subjects with practical components had a 70-mark theory paper and 30 marks for practicals, while non-practical subjects were 100 marks.

The UPMSP will conduct the Class 12 Board Practical Examinations from January 27, 2027, to February 10, 2027. These practicals are expected to be held in two phases, preceding the main theory examinations. Schools have been instructed to ensure the timely completion of practical records, project work, and internal assessments in preparation for these exams.

The new marking scheme, effective from the 2027 academic session, assigns 80 marks to the question paper and 20 marks to practicals or internal assessments for all subjects. Pre-board practical exams are scheduled to begin on January 18, 2027, while pre-board written exams will be conducted from February 1 to February 10, 2027. The main theory examinations are expected to commence in mid-to-late February 2027 and conclude by mid-March 2027. Students are required to score at least 33% in each subject and in aggregate to pass the examinations.

In 2026, the Class 12 practical examinations were conducted in two phases: from January 24 to February 1 (Phase 1) and from February 2 to February 9 (Phase 2). The theory examinations in 2026 were held from February 18 to March 12.
