The National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced a formal procedure for candidates to obtain duplicate scorecards for various entrance examinations it conducts. This new process, which came into effect on September 17, 2026, addresses a long-standing need for a mechanism to replace lost or damaged scorecards.

This development is significant for candidates from previous examination cycles who require verified copies of their scorecards for academic, professional, or regulatory purposes, as the NTA previously retained examination records for a limited period, typically between 60 and 90 days after results were declared.

Examinations Covered and Application Circumstances

The new procedure covers many NTA-conducted examinations, including major tests such as NEET-UG, JEE Main, CUET-UG, CUET-PG, UGC-NET, and CSIR-NET, along with other examinations entrusted to the agency. This detailed coverage aims to provide a uniform solution for all candidates under the NTA’s purview.

Candidates are eligible to apply for a duplicate scorecard if their original document has been lost, stolen, damaged, mutilated, or destroyed due to circumstances beyond their control. This provision ensures that unforeseen events do not hinder candidates from accessing their essential academic records.

Application Process and Submission Methods

To apply for a duplicate scorecard, candidates must first check DigiLocker for their scorecard. If it is not available there, they can download Annexure-I, which contains the application form and prescribed formats for the affidavit and indemnity-cum-undertaking, from the official NTA website, nta.ac.in. Until an online portal becomes fully operational, candidates have two primary methods for submitting their applications. They can send applications by Registered or Speed Post to the Director (Examinations), National Testing Agency, 5th Floor, Government of India Press, Minto Road, New Delhi-110002. Alternatively, candidates can email scanned copies of all required documents, compiled into a single PDF, to result@nta.gov.in. If opting for email submission, hard copies of the corresponding documents must be sent by Registered or Speed Post within 15 days of sending the email. Required documents typically include proof of identity (such as Aadhaar, passport, or driving licence), proof of loss or damage (e.g., a police report for theft), and the original NEET admit card if available, as specified in Annexure-I.

Processing Fees and Delivery Charges

A non-refundable processing fee is applicable, varying based on the number of years since the examination result was declared. This fee structure is designed to account for the retrieval and verification efforts associated with older records.

The fee is payable through the NTA portal’s online payment facility or via a Demand Draft payable at New Delhi. In addition, candidates opting for Speed Post delivery will incur an extra charge of ₹200 per duplicate scorecard, while international courier delivery will attract an additional charge of ₹500.

Verification, Issuance, and Rejection Procedures

Upon receiving an application, the NTA will verify the information against its examination database, identity documents, affidavit, and identification certificate. A duplicate scorecard is expected to be issued within 15 working days after the NTA receives a complete application along with the prescribed fee. Email submissions typically receive a response within 1–2 weeks, while postal submissions may take 3–4 weeks or longer.

If an application is incomplete, the candidate will be informed within 10 working days, and the 15-working-day processing period will commence only after the required corrections are submitted. The physical scorecard will be dispatched via Speed Post, and a digital copy will also be sent to the candidate’s registered email address.

An application may be rejected if the submitted information does not correspond with NTA’s records, if documents are found to be forged, or if deficiencies are not corrected within 30 days of notification. Candidates have the right to challenge a rejection by submitting a representation to the Director General, NTA, within 30 days of receiving the rejection order. This representation will be decided within 30 working days.
