Karnataka Class 7 mid-term exams begin today: check timetable, Class 10 SA1 details

The Department of Public Instruction (DPI), Karnataka, is conducting the Class 7 Mid-Term Exam 2026-27, also known as the First Summative Assessment (SA1), from September 23 to September 30, 2026. These examinations are scheduled for the afternoon session, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM daily.

Simultaneously, the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) is conducting the Class 10 SA1 examination during the same period, with new security protocols and centrally prepared question papers. This marks a shift from previous years where Class 10 papers were set at the school or district level.

Class 7 Mid-Term Exam Schedule and Details

The Class 7 Mid-Term exams cover subjects including First Language, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Third Language, and Second Language / Other subjects. The DPI will make question papers available for download after each subject exam, and answer keys will also be provided post-examination.

Students are advised to refer to the timetable provided by their respective schools for the precise subject and date details for their Class 7 examinations. The Summative-1 Mid Term question papers and subject-wise syllabus are issued annually by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB).

Class 10 SA1 Examination and New Security Measures

The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) is conducting the Class 10 SA1 examination, also known as the First Mid-Term or Half Yearly examination, to familiarize students with the board exam process. For the first time, KSEAB is centrally setting the question papers for Class 10, ensuring every student across the state writes the same paper on the same day.

Enhanced security measures have been implemented for the Class 10 exams. Question papers reach schools through a headmaster login on the morning of each exam, requiring an OTP login. Papers are then printed and administered on the spot, featuring school-specific watermarks. A mobile phone ban is enforced during the exam. Penalties for paper leaks for Class 10 exams now fall under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the IT Act, with unaided schools risking loss of recognition for such breaches.
