Karnataka SSLC third language mid-term exam on September 25

The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) is set to conduct the Karnataka SSLC Third Language Mid-Term Exam 2026-27 on September 25, 2026. This examination is a component of the broader Karnataka SSLC Mid Term Examination 2026-27, also known as the First Summative Assessment (SA1), which commenced on September 23, 2026, and will conclude on September 30, 2026.

Students who have selected Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Urdu, Arabic, Konkani, Tulu, Marathi, or Hindi (NCERT) as their third language will appear for this offline assessment. The mid-term exams are designed to evaluate students’ preparation in approximately 50% of the Class 10 syllabus, covering material taught between June and August 2026.

Examination Structure and Duration

The Third Language paper, like other second language papers, will be conducted for a duration of 2 hours and 45 minutes. Students will be allotted an additional 15 minutes of reading time before they begin writing the paper. The written examination for applicable core and language subjects carries a weightage of 80 marks, with the remaining 20 marks allocated through Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA).

In contrast, First Language and core-subject papers have a longer duration of 3 hours. The KSEAB has also released SSLC Model Question Papers for the academic year 2026-27, including a Kannada model paper for First Language (Subject Code: 01-K) which has a maximum of 100 marks and a duration of 3 hours 15 minutes.

Availability of Question Papers and Resources

As of September 22, 2026, the 2026-27 mid-term question papers were not yet available. The Karnataka SSLC Science Mid Term Question Paper 2026-27 is expected to be released after the Science examination on September 24, 2026. Similarly, the Karnataka SSLC Social Science Mid Term Question Paper 2026-27 is anticipated after the Social Science paper on September 26, 2026, and the Karnataka SSLC Maths Mid Term Question Paper 2026-27 will be added after the Mathematics examination scheduled for September 28, 2026.

Students can download subject-wise Model Question Papers and Model Key Answers from the official KSEAB website, kseab.karnataka.gov.in, to understand the exam pattern, marks distribution, and question types. Previous year’s SA1 papers (2025-26) are also available for practice until the current year’s papers are officially released.

SSLC Mid Term and Final Examination Schedule

The Karnataka SSLC Mid Term Examination 2026-27 spans from September 23 to September 30, 2026. The final SSLC Examinations 2026 are scheduled to commence on March 18, 2026. The Third Language and NSQF (National Skill Qualification Framework) subjects are slated for March 30, 2026, in the final exams.
