KMAT 2026 session 2 registration begins: apply by October 31

The Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA) initiated the registration process for KMAT 2026 Session 2 on September 28, 2026. Aspiring candidates for MBA and MCA programmes in AICTE-approved, university-affiliated self-financing colleges across Karnataka can apply online through the official website, kmatindia.com.

This second session offers an opportunity for candidates to either improve their scores from Session 1 or secure admission if they missed the initial test. The final date for submitting applications is October 31, 2026, with the application fee set at Rs 1,230, including GST.

Application Process and Key Dates

The application for KMAT 2026 Session 2 is exclusively online. Candidates are required to visit kmatindia.com to register, fill out the application form, upload necessary documents, and pay the fee. The fee can be paid via net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI.

KMAT is recognized as an All India examination, conducted in over 10 cities across Bangalore, Karnataka, and other parts of the country. The KPPGCA, established on January 29, 2003, is the conducting body for this state-level entrance test.

Eligibility Criteria and Exam Structure

For MBA admission, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree of at least three years in any discipline from a recognized university. Those applying for MCA programmes need a graduate degree with Mathematics or Statistics at either the 10+2 or graduation level. Final-year degree students awaiting their results are permitted to apply provisionally.

The KMAT 2026 examination is a computer-based, home-based online remote proctored test with a duration of 120 minutes. It comprises 120 objective-type questions distributed across three sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Ability, and Logical Reasoning. Each section carries equal weightage, with 40 questions and 40 marks. One mark is awarded for each correct answer, and there is no negative marking for incorrect responses. Candidates can attempt questions in any order within the allotted time.

KMAT’s Role and Previous Session Details

KMAT serves as the entrance examination for admission to 159 member institutions offering MBA programmes and 69 institutions offering MCA programmes, all of which are AICTE-approved and university-affiliated self-financing colleges in Karnataka. The Government of Karnataka officially authorizes KMAT for this purpose. KMAT is one of the few Indian management entrance tests that provides two sittings in a single admission cycle, with the higher of the two scores considered for counselling.

KMAT 2026 Session 1 registration commenced on April 2, 2026, and concluded on August 31, 2026. The Session 1 examination was conducted on September 13, 2026, in remote-proctored mode. For Session 1, the MCA exam was held from 10 AM to 12 PM, and the MBA exam from 2 PM to 4 PM.

The first step involves clicking on the KMAT application link and then registering with a valid email address and mobile number to generate login credentials. Following the completion of the form, candidates are required to upload a scanned photograph and signature in the specified format and size. The application fee of Rs 1,230, which includes GST, must then be paid through available online methods such as net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI. After successful payment, applicants should submit the form and download the confirmation page for their records.
