This marks a critical deadline for candidates seeking admission to Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) courses in Maharashtra through the state-level counselling process.

The choice filling for Round 2 of MDS Counselling 2026 has been underway, with candidates submitting their preferences for various dental colleges. This process is part of the broader medical and dental admission framework in India, which includes both state-level and All India Quota counselling.

Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling Schedule

The Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2026, conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, is the official state-level admission process for MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other medical courses. Online registration for this counselling began on August 6, 2026, and concluded on August 12, 2026. The counselling process involves multiple stages, including online registration, document verification, choice filling, seat allotment, and reporting to colleges.

The Round 1 seat allotment result for Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2026 was declared on August 23, 2026. Candidates who were allotted seats in Round 1 were required to report to their respective colleges between August 24 and August 28, 2026. For CAP Round 2, the seat matrix was published on September 7, 2026, followed by online choice/preference filling from September 8 to September 10, 2026. The CAP Round 2 Selection List was declared on September 12, 2026, and physical joining at allotted colleges for CAP Round 2 took place from September 13 to September 18, 2026, excluding September 14, 2026. The academic session for Maharashtra NEET UG CAP Round 2 was scheduled to commence on September 15, 2026.

Eligibility and Admission Process

Candidates for Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2026 must be at least 17 years old on or leading up to December 31, 2026, with no upper age limit currently in place for NEET UG admission. Eligibility also requires candidates to have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English. Minimum qualifying marks are 50% for General category candidates, 40% for SC/ST/OBC, and 45% for Persons with Disabilities (PwD).

For admission under the 85% Maharashtra state quota, candidates are required to fulfill specific domicile requirements. The counselling process is full, including online registration, document verification, choice filling, seat allotment, and reporting procedures. Seat allotment is determined by NEET rank, category, choices filled by the candidate, reservation policy, and seat availability. The complete Maharashtra medical counselling system is conducted in multiple rounds, including Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round.

All India Quota Counselling

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, is responsible for conducting online counselling for 50% All India Quota Post-Graduate Medical and Dental seats. This process is in compliance with orders from the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India dated March 23, 2012, and May 9, 2017. While the State CET Cell manages the state quota seats, the DGHS handles the All India Quota, ensuring a structured and regulated admission process for postgraduate medical and dental courses across the country.
