MAT December 2026 registrations open: apply by December 21 for CBT

The All India Management Association (AIMA) opened registrations for the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) December 2026 session today, September 28, 2026. Aspiring candidates for MBA and allied programmes can apply online through the official portal, mat.aima.in. This session marks the final opportunity for candidates in the 2026 calendar year to take the national-level management entrance exam.

The MAT examination, approved as a national level test by the Government of India, Ministry of Education in 2003, has been administered by AIMA since 1988. It is held four times annually in February, May, September, and December, with scores accepted by over 600 Business Schools across India for admissions.

MAT December 2026 Important Dates and Application Process

The registration window for the MAT December 2026 session is currently open. Candidates wishing to appear for the Paper Based Test (PBT) must complete their online registration by December 14, 2026. The PBT examination is scheduled for December 20, 2026. Admit cards for the PBT will be available from December 17, 2026, at 5:00 PM onwards.

For those opting for the Computer Based Test (CBT), the last date for online registration is December 21, 2026. The CBT will be conducted on December 27, 2026, with admit cards released from December 24, 2026, at 5:00 PM onwards. The application process is entirely online, and offline forms are not accepted.

Application Fees and Eligibility Criteria

The application fee for the MAT December 2026 session is Rs 2,300 for candidates choosing a single test mode, either PBT or CBT. Candidates who wish to appear for both PBT and CBT modes will pay a combined fee of Rs 4,000. This fee structure was revised upwards from the May 2026 session, where the single mode fee increased by Rs 100 and the dual mode fee by Rs 200 compared to the February 2026 session.

Payment for the application can be made through various online methods including Credit Card, Debit Card (ATM Card), Net Banking, UPI, and Paytm wallet. Graduates in any discipline are eligible to apply for MAT December 2026. Final year students of Graduate Courses are also permitted to register. AIMA has not specified a minimum percentage cutoff for eligibility.

Exam Pattern and Scoring

The MAT examination consists of 150 objective questions to be completed within a duration of 120 minutes. The paper is divided into five sections: Language Comprehension, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, and Economic and Business Environment. Each section contains 30 questions.

For every correct answer, candidates earn one mark, while each incorrect answer incurs a penalty of 0.25 marks. the Economic and Business Environment section is not included in the percentile calculation. MAT scorecards remain valid for one year from the test date, and results for the December 2026 session are anticipated by the first week of January 2027.

Advisory for Candidates and Required Documents

AIMA advises candidates to verify the approval and recognition status of various programmes directly with the concerned authorities, institutes, or universities. The association has noted instances where MAT scores were not accepted by some participating institutes despite their prior confirmation to AIMA. Candidates are therefore urged to recheck with their preferred institutes before applying for MAT.

For online registration, candidates need a valid personal email ID, a working mobile number, a scanned passport-size photograph (10 to 50 kb), and a scanned signature (5 to 20 kb). On the day of the exam, candidates must carry a printed admit card and a photo ID. Mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, and other electronic gadgets are prohibited. PBT candidates should also bring a blue or black ballpoint pen.
