Medical students’ associations have formally requested the Union Health Minister to intervene and ensure the release of the NEET PG 2026 question paper, official answer key, and individual response sheets. This follows the declaration of NEET PG 2026 results on September 24, 2026, by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), which has led to numerous claims of score discrepancies from candidates.

The NEET PG examination, conducted on August 30, 2026, is a critical entrance test for admission to MD, MS, DNB, DrNB (Direct 6 Years Courses), and PG Medical Diploma courses for the 2026-27 admission session. Over 265,000 doctors appeared for this examination, making transparency in its evaluation process a significant concern for a large segment of the medical community.

Demands for Transparency and Verification

The Indian Medical Association Medical Students Network, Madhya Pradesh (IMA MSN MP), sent a letter dated September 25, 2026, to Union Health Minister J P Nadda. In their communication, Dr Aaryan Dhivare, State General Secretary of IMA MSN MP, urged authorities to direct the release of the NEET PG 2026 question paper, official answer key, and recorded responses of individual candidates. The All India Medical Students’ Association (AIMSA) echoed these concerns, sending a similar letter to Minister Nadda on September 26, 2026.

Dr Dhivare stated, “In our view, whenever a student raises a genuine concern regarding marks, evaluation, or any other process related to the NEET-PG examination, it is the moral and institutional responsibility of the concerned authority to provide a clear, transparent, and valid explanation—irrespective of whether the student’s apprehension is ultimately found to be correct or incorrect. As representatives of medical students and doctors, we therefore respectfully request the concerned authorities to ensure complete transparency in the examination process and support disclosure of the individual answer sheets/response records and the official answer key for every candidate who appeared in NEET-PG.”

Alleged Score Discrepancies and NBEMS Stance

Candidates have taken to social media platform X to report significant discrepancies, with some claiming differences of nearly 100 marks between their expected and actual scores. The NEET PG 2026 examination comprised 180 questions, with a marking scheme that awards +4 marks for each correct answer and deducts -1 for every wrong answer. There is no penalty for unanswered questions, and the maximum possible score for the examination is 720 marks.

According to NBEMS, the official answer key for NEET PG 2026 is scheduled to be published on its official website, natboard.edu.in, on or after October 1, 2026. Upon release, each candidate will be able to access Question ID numbers, correct answer key IDs, response IDs marked, and scores awarded for each question through their individual applicant login on the NEET PG 2026 index page of the NBEMS website. The final NEET PG 2026 result is reportedly scheduled for September 30, 2026.

NEET PG 2026 Tie-Breaking Criteria

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) employs a specific set of criteria to resolve ties when multiple candidates achieve the same raw score in the NEET PG 2026 examination. The primary criterion is the number of incorrect answers across the entire exam, with the candidate having fewer wrong answers ranking higher. If a tie persists, the system then considers fewer incorrect answers in Section A of the examination.

Further tie-breaking is determined by fewer incorrect answers in Sections B, C, D, and E, in that specific order. Should a tie still remain, candidates with higher aggregate marks in their MBBS professional examinations are prioritized. As a final criterion, the older candidate among those yet tied will be ranked higher. This multi-step approach is designed to ensure fair and objective resolution of identical scores, says NBEMS.
