NEET PG 2026: Plea Challenges Re-Exam for 2,445 Candidates After Technical Glitch

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) faces a legal challenge as a plea contesting the re-examination of 2,445 candidates for NEET-PG 2026 was mentioned before the Supreme Court of India on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. This re-examination, scheduled for September 5, 2026, at 3 pm in Jaipur, stems from technical disruptions that prevented these candidates from completing their original examination held on August 30, 2026.

The disruption, caused by an internal power supply issue at two iON Digital Zone iDZ centres in Sitapura, Jaipur, affected quite a few candidates who had appeared for the crucial postgraduate medical entrance exam. The Supreme Court bench, headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant, directed the petitioner to mention the matter before the designated bench led by Justice Narasimha, which handles all NEET-related cases, acknowledging the ongoing developments in such matters.

NEET PG 2026: Technical Glitch and Re-Examination Details

The NEET-PG 2026 examination was conducted nationwide on August 30, 2026, with a total of 2,65,980 candidates appearing for the exam. While 2,63,535 candidates successfully completed their examination, 2,445 candidates in Jaipur were unable to do so due to an internal power supply failure. This issue, attributed to M/s TCS Ltd., led the NBEMS to announce a re-examination for these affected candidates.

ACP Lalit Sharma from Jaipur confirmed the server issues, stating, “We received information that the server was not working properly, due to which the exam could not continue normally. Some candidates’ computers opened while others did not, causing disruption to the examination.” Dr. Rohan Krishnan, Chief Patron of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), also expressed serious concern over the reported issues, particularly the significant disruption in Jaipur that necessitated a re-examination.

NEET PG 2026: Investigation and Official Response

Following the technical disruption, a three-member committee was constituted to investigate the circumstances surrounding the power supply failure. This committee is headed by Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary, Medical, Health and Family Welfare Department, Rajasthan, indicating the seriousness with which the state government is addressing the incident. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) also stepped in to dismiss social media claims of a NEET PG 2026 paper leak in Jaipur, clarifying them as misleading.

The NBEMS, in its official notice, expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to the affected candidates. The notice stated, “For all the candidates who could not complete the examination, the NBEMS expresses regret for the inconvenience caused. Their re-examination will be conducted on 05.09.2026 (Saturday), 03:00 PM at Jaipur, Rajasthan. Further details regarding the venue will be shared separately, including the issuance of the revised Admit Cards for such candidates.”

NEET PG 2026: Examination Statistics

The NEET PG 2026 examination was initially scheduled for 2,73,096 candidates across 1,111 centres in 339 cities. The disruption in Jaipur, while affecting a relatively small percentage of the total candidates, has brought to light the vulnerabilities of large-scale online examinations. The NBEMS aims to announce the NEET PG 2026 result by September 15, 2026, though an official confirmation of this date is still awaited.
