RIMC Entrance Exam 2026 registration ends September 30, apply for Class 8 admission

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to close the registration window for the Rashtriya Indian Military College Entrance Examination (RIMCEE) 2026 on September 30, 2026. This examination supports admission to Class 8 at the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun, for the academic term commencing July 2027. Eligible candidates must complete their online applications and fee payments by the stipulated deadline.

The application process, which began on September 1, 2026, requires prospective candidates to apply through the official NTA website, exams.nta.nic.in/RIMCEE/. The RIMC, a premier Category ‘A’ training institution established in 1922, aims to develop future leaders and serves as a feeder institution to the National Defence Academy (NDA) and the Indian Naval Academy (NAVAC).

Application and Fee Submission Deadlines

Candidates have until 5 pm on September 30, 2026, to submit their online application forms without a late fee. The last date for successful transaction of the examination fee through various online modes is also September 30, 2026, extending until 11:50 pm. For those unable to meet this initial deadline, a provision for late submission with an additional fee of ₹500 will be available from October 1 to October 7, 2026, until 5 pm, with the late fee transaction deadline set for 11:50 pm on October 7, 2026.

The application fees vary by category. General candidates, wards of defence personnel and ex-servicemen, and OBC (NCL) candidates are required to pay ₹1000. Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates have a fee of ₹750. All categories will incur an additional late fee of ₹500 if applying during the extended window.

Eligibility Criteria and Examination Structure

To be eligible for the RIMCEE 2026, candidates must be more than 12 years and six months old and not more than 14 years old as on July 1, 2027. Also, candidates must either be currently studying in Class VII or have passed Class VII from a recognized school at the time of admission. The selection process for RIMCEE-2026 comprises three stages: a Written Examination, a Viva Voce, and a Medical Examination.

The written examination, a pen-and-paper-based test, is scheduled for December 6, 2026 (Sunday), and will be conducted in 39 cities across India. The exam duration is 4 hours and 30 minutes, with the medium being bilingual (English and Hindi), except for the English Language section. The paper includes descriptive questions in Mathematics and English, and multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in General Knowledge (GK). There will be no negative marking. Candidates must secure a minimum of 50% marks in each subject to qualify for the next stage.

Examination Stages and Important Dates

Following the written examination, results for Stage-I are expected to be declared by February 20, 2027. Candidates who qualify will proceed to Stage-II, the viva voce, which is tentatively scheduled for April 2027, approximately 4–6 weeks after the Stage-I results. It is mandatory to secure 50% marks in the Viva Voce. Only candidates deemed medically fit after the medical examination will be considered for final selection.

The NTA, an independent autonomous organization established by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, is responsible for conducting this examination. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official NTA website for updates regarding the City Intimation Slip, which will be available 12-15 days before the exam, and Admit Cards, downloadable 5-7 days prior to the examination date.
