SSC CGL Tier I: Download admit card by Sep 27 for Sep 30-Oct 30 exam

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is expected to release the admit cards for the Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2026 (Tier-I) in the near future. Candidates who have applied for the examination will be able to download their hall tickets from the official SSC website, ssc.gov.in, two to three days earlier their respective examination dates.

The Tier I examination is scheduled to be conducted from September 30 to October 30, 2026. This recruitment drive aims to fill 10,731 vacancies across various Group B and Group C positions in central government ministries and departments, a figure revised from the initial 12,556 vacancies announced. Approximately 29 lakh applicants are participating in the SSC CGL 2026 Exam.

SSC CGL Tier I Examination Schedule and Admit Card Access

The SSC CGL Tier I examination is set to commence on September 30, 2026, and conclude on October 30, 2026. The examination will be conducted in three shifts daily. While the exact date and time for the release of the admit card have not been officially announced by the Staff Selection Commission, candidates should anticipate its availability approximately two to three days before their individual exam date.

To download the admit card, candidates will need to access the designated login module on the official SSC website, ssc.gov.in, using their registration number and date of birth. It is mandatory for candidates to carry a printed copy of their SSC CGL Tier I Admit Card along with a valid original photo ID proof to the examination center. Candidates who could not undergo Aadhaar-based authentication have additional requirements, including reporting two hours before the scheduled start, carrying at least two recent passport-size colour photographs, and an original valid photo ID showing the same date of birth as the Admission Certificate.

Exam Pattern and Vacancy Details for Tier I

The Tier I examination will consist of 100 objective-type, multiple-choice questions, carrying a total of 200 marks. The duration of the exam is one hour. Questions will be set in both English and Hindi, other than the English Comprehension section. A negative marking of 0.50 marks will be applied for each incorrect answer. The Tier I exam pattern includes four sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension, each comprising 25 questions worth 50 marks. Each section will have a sectional timing of 15 minutes.

The recruitment drive, initially announced for 12,556 vacancies, was revised to 10,731 vacancies on September 24, 2026. The SSC CGL 2026 Notification was released on May 21, 2026, and the online application process was open until June 22, 2026. The SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Date Notice was released on September 12, 2026, and the City Intimation Slip was made available on September 21, 2026. The application fee for General/OBC/EWS (male candidates only) is Rs. 100, while Female/SC/ST/PwBD candidates are exempted. The SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam is tentatively scheduled for December 2026.
