Telangana Police SI/ASI: Apply by September 16, 2026 for November 23 exam

The Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board (TSLPRB) has announced that the Preliminary Written Exam for Telangana Police Sub Inspector (SI) and Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) posts will be conducted on November 23, 2026. This follows the release of notifications for 298 vacancies and an extension of the online application deadline to September 16, 2026, 5:00 PM.

The recruitment drive aims to fill 275 Sub Inspector (SI) and 23 SCT Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Fingerprint Bureau positions within the Telangana Police Department and allied uniformed services. The TSLPRB had initially released the SI notification on July 29, 2026, under Rc. No. 225/Rect./Rect.-1/2026, with a separate notification (Rc. No. 279/Rect./Rect.-3/2026) issued for the ASI (Fingerprint Bureau) posts.

Application Process and Eligibility Criteria

The online application process for the 298 SI and ASI vacancies commenced on August 19, 2026. The TSLPRB extended the last date for applications to September 16, 2026, 5:00 PM, to provide additional time for candidates, particularly those who had registered or paid the fee but not yet submitted their forms. The application process involves one-time registration, filling out personal and academic details, uploading a combined photograph and signature in a JPG file (30 KB to 100 KB), and paying the application fee.

For SI-level posts, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised University as of July 29, 2026. Applicants for ASI (Fingerprint Bureau) positions are required to have a B.E./B.Tech in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Science & Engineering. The age limit for General category SI posts is 21 to 25 years as of July 01, 2026, with a 7-year age relaxation provided for SC/ST/BC/EWS categories. The application fee is ₹1,000 for General category SI posts and ₹500 for SC/ST categories.

Overview of Vacancies and Selection Process

Beyond the 298 SI and ASI positions, the TSLPRB also released a broader notification in 2026 for 7,437 vacancies across various posts within the Telangana Police Department. The application window for these additional vacancies was also open from August 19, 2026, with the last date extended to September 16, 2026. These posts include Police Constable, Fire Fighter, Station Fire Officer, Deputy Jailor, and Warder, among others. Specifically, there are 148 vacancies for SCT Sub Inspector of Police (Civil), 44 for SCT Sub Inspector in the Telangana Special Protection Force, and 39 for Station Fire Officer.

The selection process for Telangana Police recruitment encompasses multiple stages: a Written Examination, Physical Measurement Test (PMT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Trade/Driving Test (where applicable), Document Verification, and a Medical Examination. The Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC), distinct from the TSLPRB, conducts Departmental Examinations twice a year, in May and November, for employee promotions. The TGPSC also conducts examinations for probationers in the I.A.S., I.P.S., and State Civil and Police Services in March and September.
