These releases and policy changes are designed to provide enhanced functionalities, security, and access to digital content, while also outlining critical deadlines for continued software support, particularly for operating systems like Windows 10.
Android Development Tools and Google Services
Google LLC, organized under the laws of Delaware, USA, and based in Mountain View, California, has made Android Studio Quail 4 | 2026.1.4 available for download. Users wishing to use this software must first agree to the Android Software Development Kit License Agreement. The Android Software Development Kit (SDK) is provided by Google for developing applications compatible with Android implementations.
In addition, the official YouTube app is accessible on Android phones and tablets, allowing users to browse personal recommendations, view content from subscribed channels, and access watched, liked, and saved videos. Google continues to provide these tools and services to a global user base.
Messaging, Video Calling, and Digital Library Access
Meta offers WhatsApp, a free messaging and video calling application used by over 2 billion people across more than 180 countries. WhatsApp supports secure video and voice calls for up to 32 participants and enables users to share text, photos, video, and GIF updates through its Status feature, which disappears after 24 hours.
For digital content access, Libby provides users with the ability to borrow free ebooks, digital audiobooks, and magazines from their local library using a library card. Libby automatically downloads loans for offline use when connected to Wi-Fi and returns them on their due date. In US libraries, most ebooks from Libby can be sent to Kindle devices.
Windows 10 End of Support and Python Software Signing
Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 will no longer receive free software updates, technical support, or security fixes after October 14, 2025. This change necessitates that users consider upgrading to Windows 11 to maintain access to ongoing support and security.
The Python Software Foundation has updated its software signing methods. Starting with Python 3.11.0, Python 3.10.7, and Python 3.9.14 releases, CPython release artifacts are signed with Sigstore. Python versions preceding 3.14 were signed using OpenPGP private keys of their respective release managers. As of October 14, 2024, the certificate authority for Windows installers and binaries produced as part of each Python release is the Microsoft Identity Verification Root Certificate Authority. Installer packages for Python on macOS, downloadable from python.org, are signed with an Apple Developer ID Installer certificate. As of Python 3.11.4 and 3.12.0b1 (May 23, 2023), release installer packages for macOS are signed with certificates issued to the Python Software Foundation (Apple Developer ID BMM5U3QVKW). Previous macOS Python releases had installer packages signed with certificates issued to Ned Deily (DJ3H93M7VJ).
An Android application named Download All Files functions as a download manager, offering reliable file downloads and the ability to organize downloads into a queue. This application supports pausing and resuming downloads, as well as continuing interrupted downloads.
However, Download All Files does not support YouTube downloads or streaming media downloads. To use the application, users should find a file in a browser, long-press the link, choose ‘Share Link’, then ‘Download All Files’, and confirm within the app.
