SBI PO Mains result 2026 expected in September/October for 1,500 vacancies

The State Bank of India (SBI) is expected to announce the SBI PO Mains Result 2026 in September or October 2026. The Mains examination was conducted on September 12, 2026, as part of the recruitment drive for 1,500 Probationary Officer (PO) vacancies. Candidates will be able to check their results on the official SBI careers portal, sbi.bank.in/web/careers/current-openings, once released.

This recruitment cycle, officially numbered CRPD/PO/2026-27/09, aims to fill 1,446 regular vacancies and 54 backlog vacancies. The Mains examination is a critical stage, with successful candidates progressing to the Psychometric Test, Group Exercise, and Personal Interview.

SBI Po Mains Examination Structure and Evaluation

The SBI PO Mains examination for 2026 featured a revised total of 230 marks, comprising an objective test of 200 marks and a descriptive test of 30 marks. This marks a change from the previous pattern, which had a total of 250 marks (200 objective + 50 descriptive). The objective section includes a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.

The examination was structured across various sections, including Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation, General Awareness / Economy / Banking, and English Language for the objective part, followed by a descriptive communication skills test. The total duration for Phase-II was 3 hours and 30 minutes.

Vacancy Details and Selection Process

The 2026 recruitment drive targets 1,500 Probationary Officer positions. These vacancies are distributed across various categories, with 588 posts for Unreserved (UR) candidates, 390 for Other Backward Classes (OBC), 234 for Scheduled Caste (SC), 144 for Scheduled Tribe (ST), and 144 for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates.

Candidates who clear the Mains examination will be shortlisted for Phase III, which includes a Psychometric Test, Group Exercise, and Personal Interview. The final selection will be based on a combined performance in the Mains examination and Phase III. Mains marks will be normalized to 75 marks, while Group Exercise and Interview marks will be normalized to 25 marks, contributing to a final merit list out of 100 marks. Preliminary examination marks will not be considered for the final merit list.

Expected Cut-Off Marks and Previous Trends

While the official SBI PO Mains cut-off for 2026 has not yet been released, various educational platforms have provided expected cut-off ranges based on the revised exam pattern and other influencing factors. These factors include the total available openings, the difficulty level of the paper, candidate attendance, and descriptive performance. SBI applies sectional minimum cutoffs in the Mains exam.

For reference, the SBI PO Prelims Cut Off 2026 for General (UR) was 66.25 out of 100, for OBC it was 66.00, for EWS it was 64.75, for SC it was 58.75, and for ST it was 52.75. The SBI PO Mains Cut Off 2025, which was out of 250 marks, saw General (UR) at 75, OBC at 69.5, EWS at 75, SC at 62.75, and ST at 62.51.
