NIOS October 2026 date sheet expected soon for Class 10, 12 theory exams

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is expected to release the date sheet for the Class 10 and 12 October 2026 theory examinations soon. The official notification will be made available on the NIOS website, sdmis.nios.ac.in. This date sheet will provide the complete examination timetable for students appearing in the upcoming October–November 2026 Public Examination.

NIOS conducts public examinations twice a year, in April/May and October/November sessions, offering flexibility to learners. The practical examinations for the October 2026 session are already underway, having commenced on September 14, 2026, and are scheduled so on September 29, 2026. The notification regarding these practical exams was issued on September 6, 2026.

October 2026 Theory Exam Schedule and Timings

The NIOS Class 10 and 12 October 2026 theory exams are anticipated to be held during October and November 2026, following established trends. The date sheet will be released as a single PDF document, detailing subject-wise exam dates, subject codes, and examination timings. Most theory papers are scheduled from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM, providing students with three hours to complete the examination. An additional 15 minutes, from 2:15 PM to 2:30 PM, will be provided for reading the question paper before writing commences.

Students are advised to reach their examination centre at least 30 minutes before the reporting time. The official date sheet will also include practical examination information and other important exam instructions. The NIOS October 2026 Date Sheet is expected to be released before the examinations begin, and students should download it only from official NIOS sources.

Previous Examination Cycle Trends

The release of the October 2026 date sheet follows a pattern observed in previous examination cycles. For the April 2026 session, the theory exam date sheet was officially published on March 25, 2026. Results for the April 2026 session are expected in June 2026, approximately seven weeks after the last theory exam.

Similarly, the October 2025 session featured practical exams in September–October 2025 and theory exams in October–November 2025. This historical data suggests a consistent timeline for the upcoming October 2026 session. The NIOS has confirmed that once dates are announced for a session, they will not be changed again, as was the case for the April session.

Admit Cards and Exam Day Instructions

The NIOS admit cards will be released on nios.ac.in before the theory exams begin. To download their admit card, students will need to enter their enrollment number and date of birth. It is mandatory for students to carry their hall ticket and a valid photo ID, such as Aadhaar, school ID, or passport, on the day of the examination. No mobile phones or smartwatches are permitted inside the exam hall.

Students should regularly check the official NIOS website (nios.ac.in or sdmis.nios.ac.in) for the latest examination updates. Once the date sheet is released, students should download the PDF and review all subject schedules carefully. After downloading, it is advised to verify subject codes, mark important dates, create a revision schedule, check practical subjects, and monitor hall ticket updates. Students should download their hall ticket as soon as it is available and prepare their exam kit the night before, including their hall ticket, ID, pen, pencil, ruler, and eraser. Arriving 30 minutes early to the exam center is also recommended.

Potential Revisions and Subject Schedules

The NIOS exam dates for certain states, including Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh, may be subject to revisions. These potential changes are typically due to state assembly elections or regional public holidays. Any such revisions will be communicated through official channels.

The date sheet is crucial for Class 10 and Class 12 students to check their complete exam schedule. The official document generally includes subject-wise exam dates, subject codes, examination timings, practical examination information, and important exam instructions. Students should prioritize submitting Tutor Marked Assignments (TMAs) if they have not already, revise high-weightage topics first, and solve at least two previous year’s papers per subject under timed conditions.
