The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) today, October 9, 2026, announced the application dates for private candidates seeking attendance exemption for the TS Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE) March 2027. This provision allows eligible private candidates to appear for the examinations without mandatory regular college attendance.
The attendance exemption facility is a regular feature of the IPE, with previous guidelines for the TG Inter Exams 2026 having been released with deadlines in November 2025. This year’s announcement outlines the process, fees, and eligibility criteria for candidates across Telangana.
Application Process and Deadlines
Private candidates wishing to appear for the TG Inter March 2027 Exams must submit their applications for attendance exemption online through the official TGBIE website, tgbie.cgg.gov.in. The deadline for submitting applications with the regular fee is October 31, 2026.
The application fee for attendance exemption is INR 500. Candidates who miss the initial deadline can still apply with a late fee. Applications will be accepted with a late fee of INR 200 until November 15, 2026, making the total fee INR 700. A further extension allows applications with a late fee of INR 500 until November 30, 2026, bringing the total fee to INR 1,000. The TGBIE has stated that the application fee will not be refunded or adjusted if a candidate is later found ineligible for the March 2027 exams.

Required Documents and Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must submit several documents along with their online application. These may include original qualifying examination certificates, a Transfer Certificate (TC), a Migration Certificate, and an Eligibility Certificate. Incomplete attendance applications or those submitted without the required documents will be rejected without further correspondence, according to the TGBIE.
Specific eligibility criteria have been outlined by the board. Candidates who passed SSC or an equivalent examination from a board other than the Telangana SSC Board must obtain an Eligibility Certificate from TGBIE. Candidates with a one-year gap after completing SSC or equivalent are eligible to appear only for first-year Intermediate exams in March 2027. Those with a two-year or longer gap after completing SSC or equivalent can appear for both first-year and second-year Intermediate exams in the same examination session.
Provisions for Subject Changes and Additional Subjects
The TGBIE has also detailed provisions for students seeking to change subjects or take additional courses. Students who failed the second-year Intermediate examination and wish to change optional subjects from Science to Arts or Humanities must apply for attendance exemption. Similarly, candidates seeking a change from one faculty to another within Arts and Humanities must also apply for attendance exemption.
Students who have passed both first-year and second-year Intermediate courses can appear for a second language as an additional subject. In addition, candidates who have passed IPE with the Biology, Physics, and Chemistry (BPC) group and wish to study only Mathematics as an additional subject are eligible to apply. However, the newly introduced ACE group and separate Mathematics IA and IB papers for MEC are restricted to first-year candidates, and direct second-year entry in ACE through attendance exemption is not permitted.
Internal Assessments and Practicals
The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) has confirmed that internal assessments will be implemented for first-year subjects starting from the 2026-27 academic year. Private candidates who are granted attendance exemption for the TS Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE) March 2027 are still required to attend English Practical/Internal Assessment tests. This is a mandatory requirement as per the TGBIE.
The TGBIE has also clarified that receiving an attendance exemption does not alter the syllabus, internal assessment procedures, or the overall evaluation pattern for the examinations. Students are advised to adhere to the prescribed Intermediate syllabus and examination pattern for their preparation. Also, the newly introduced ACE group and separate Mathematics IA and IB papers for MEC are exclusively for first-year candidates, and direct second-year entry into the ACE group via attendance exemption is not permitted.
