GATE 2027 Registration: Key Dates and Fees

The online application period for GATE 2027 is scheduled from August 27 to September 27, 2026, without a late fee. Candidates who miss this initial window will have an extended online last date for registration until October 5, 2026, though a late fee will apply for registrations submitted between September 22 and September 30, 2026. The application fee for Female, SC, ST, and PwD candidates is ₹1,000 per paper, while all other candidates, including foreign nationals, are required to pay ₹2,000 per paper.

GATE 2027 Eligibility and Exam Structure

Candidates currently in their third year or higher of a four-year undergraduate degree, or those who have already completed a qualifying degree, are eligible to apply for GATE 2027. The examination will be conducted for 30 papers, notably including the newly introduced Robotics & Automation (RA) paper, expanding the scope for specialized engineering disciplines. Candidates will have the option to select up to two papers from specific combinations, as outlined in the official guidelines.

Mandatory Digilocker Integration for GATE 2027

Documents Required for GATE 2027 Application

Applicants must prepare several documents for online submission. These include a recent scanned passport-size photograph, a scanned signature, a valid photo ID proof, and relevant category certificates if applicable. The photograph must be in JPEG/JPG format, with dimensions between 200×260 px and 530×690 px, and a maximum file size of 600 KB, against a plain white background. The signature, also in JPEG/JPG format, should be between 250×80 px and 580×180 px, with a maximum file size of 300 KB, in black or dark blue ink on white paper. SC/ST and PwD certificates are required to be uploaded during registration, while OBC-NCL and EWS certificates are generally needed at the counselling stage.
