The UCEED 2027 Information Brochure, which was released on October 1, 2026, outlines the specific conditions for candidates, including academic qualifications, age limits, and the application process. UCEED is a national-level entrance examination that assesses visual perception, logical and analytical reasoning, design sensitivity, and drawing ability, with the UCEED score valid for one year for admissions in the corresponding academic year.

UCEED 2027 Eligibility and Age Criteria

To be eligible for UCEED 2027, candidates must have appeared for their Class 12 (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2026 or 2027. Generally, those who first appeared for their Class 12 examination in 2025 or earlier are not eligible for UCEED 2027. An exception applies to candidates whose Class 12 (or equivalent) examination Board declared results for the academic year 2024-25 on or after September 30, 2025; these candidates are also eligible if they meet all other criteria. However, if a candidate’s Class 12 result was withheld but the Board declared results for the academic year 2024-25 before September 30, 2025, they are not eligible for UCEED 2027.

Students from all academic streams, including Science, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities, are eligible to appear for UCEED 2027. For age criteria, candidates born on or after October 1, 2002, are eligible for the OPEN/EWS/OBC-NCL categories. For SC, ST, or PwD categories, candidates born on or after October 1, 1997, are eligible. A candidate is permitted a maximum of two attempts for UCEED, which must be in consecutive years.

B.Des Admission Requirements and Institute-Specific Eligibility

For B.Des. admission, candidates must have passed the qualifying examination (Class 12 or equivalent) in 2026 or 2027. While UCEED is a common entrance examination, specific eligibility for B.Des. admission can vary by participating institute based on the subjects studied at the 10+2 level. Candidates from the Science Stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are eligible to apply to all seven participating institutes. Candidates from any other stream (Science without Mathematics or Physics or Chemistry, Commerce, and Arts & Humanities) are eligible to apply to IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, and IIT Indore.

Foreign nationals are also eligible to appear for UCEED 2027, with seats allotted to them being supernumerary and capped at 10% of the total seats in a program. Applications from foreign nationals holding OCI/PIO cards issued before March 4, 2021, are considered under the OPEN category.
