XAT 2027 registration extended: apply by December 6 for January 3 exam

XLRI Jamshedpur has released the official notification and schedule for the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2027, a national-level entrance examination for admission to MBA/PGDM and other management programs. The registration process commenced on July 15, 2026, and candidates have until December 6, 2026, to submit their applications.

The XAT 2027 examination is slated for January 3, 2027, and will be conducted across nearly 90 cities in India. This examination is a key pathway for aspirants seeking admission to XLRI Jamshedpur and over 250 other management institutes nationwide.

XAT 2027 Registration and Application Details

The XAT 2027 registration cum application form is available exclusively in online mode on the official portal, xatonline.in. Candidates are required to register by providing their name, phone number, and email ID to create a login, followed by confirming their registration using an OTP.

The application process involves filling in academic and personal details, uploading a recent passport-size photograph and signature, and selecting preferred test cities. Test city allotment is based on a first-come, first-served basis. The application fee for XAT 2027 is INR 2300. An additional fee of INR 200 is applicable for each XLRI PGDM/MBA program a candidate applies for, payable via debit/credit card or net banking.

Examination Pattern and Structure

The XAT 2027 exam is a computer-based test with a total duration of 180 minutes. It comprises 95 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) distributed across various sections. The exam is divided into two parts: Part 1, lasting 170 minutes for core sections, and Part 2, a 10-minute section for General Knowledge (GK).

Each correct answer in the core sections carries one mark, while each incorrect answer incurs a negative marking of 0.25 marks. A penalty of 0.10 marks is deducted for every unattempted question beyond eight in the core sections. The General Knowledge section does not have negative marking and does not contribute to the overall percentile or score, but it is used by XLRI in its final selection process. Analytical Essay Writing (AEW) has been removed from the written exam and integrated into the Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) stages.

Important Dates and Tentative Schedule

The XAT 2027 notification was released on July 15, 2026, marking the start of the registration period. The admit cards for the examination are tentatively scheduled for release on December 20, 2026. Following the examination on January 3, 2027, the XAT 2027 results are expected to be declared in the fourth week of January 2027.
