XAT 2027 registration last date December 6: apply online

The registration window for the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2027, conducted by XLRI – Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur, is set to close on December 6, 2026. Aspiring candidates for MBA/PGDM and other management programs in XLRI and over 250 other institutes across India must complete their applications online at xatonline.in before the deadline.

The XAT 2027 examination is scheduled for January 3, 2027, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The registration process commenced on July 15, 2026, offering a nearly five-month application period, one of the longest among major MBA entrance exams in India.

Application Process and Fees

Candidates are required to register online through the official XAT website. The registration fee for all Indian candidates is INR 2,300. Those applying for XLRI programmes must pay an additional INR 200 for each programme selected. Indian candidates applying through GMAT/GRE for PGDM (GM) will pay INR 2,600, while NRI/Foreign/PIO/OCI candidates applying through GMAT (one or more programmes) are charged INR 5,000.

Required documents for the application include a scanned passport size photograph, scanned signature, Class 10th & 12th Certificates, Date of Birth Certificate, Graduation or qualifying exams documents, Category certificate, and Aadhar Card. Candidates can select up to six preferred test cities in order of priority.

XAT 2027 Examination Structure

The XAT 2027 exam is a computer-based test with a total duration of 180 minutes. It comprises 95 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) across various sections. Part 1 of the exam lasts 170 minutes for core sections, while Part 2 is a 10-minute section dedicated to General Knowledge (GK).

In the core sections, each correct answer carries one mark, and each incorrect answer incurs a negative marking of 0.25 marks. A penalty of 0.10 marks is deducted for every unattempted question beyond eight in the core sections. The General Knowledge section does not have negative marking and does not contribute to the overall percentile or score. Analytical Essay Writing (AEW) has been removed from the written exam and integrated into the Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) stages.

Key Dates and Post-Exam Schedule

The XAT 2027 notification was released on July 8, 2026. Candidates who registered on July 15, 2026, were guaranteed their first-preferred test city, with confirmation by August 5, 2026. The XAT 2027 admit cards are tentatively scheduled for release on December 20, 2026. The XAT 2027 results are expected to be declared in the last week of January 2027.
