UNICEF Venture Fund Internship: Apply by 25 September 2026

The UNICEF Venture Fund has opened applications for its 2026 Internship programme, offering a 6-month, part-time opportunity to support its mission of identifying and investing in early-stage, open-source technology solutions. The internship, hosted by UNICEF’s Office of Innovation in Stockholm, Sweden, can be undertaken either in-person or remotely, providing flexibility for candidates globally.

The initiative aims to enhance outcomes for children and communities by using emerging technologies. The application window, which opened on 11 September 2026, is set to close on 25 September 2026, Central European Daylight Time, with UNICEF confirming no application fee for its recruitment processes.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

To be eligible for the UNICEF Venture Fund Internship 2026, applicants must be at least 18 years old. Candidates are required to be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, or have completed such a program within the past two years. Relevant academic backgrounds include Social and Economic Development, Business Administration, Political Science, Economics, Innovation, Public Administration, or related fields.

Beyond academic qualifications, applicants need to demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills, alongside good interpersonal and teamwork abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint, is essential. Strong written and spoken English is a prerequisite, with knowledge of another official United Nations language such as French, Arabic, Spanish, Russian, or Chinese considered an advantage.

Stipend and Intern Responsibilities

Selected interns for the UNICEF Venture Fund Internship 2026 will receive a monthly stipend, unless they are already benefiting from third-party financial support. While the estimated monthly stipend is US$1,000–$1,500, UNICEF advises applicants to verify the actual amount during the recruitment process, as this figure is not officially confirmed.

Interns are responsible for their own travel and living expenses, regardless of whether they choose the in-person or remote option. Additionally, interns must provide their own laptop and ensure consistent internet access throughout the internship period. Proof of medical insurance covering the entire duration of the internship is also a mandatory requirement. UNICEF has clarified there is no expectation of employment at the conclusion of the internship.

Focus of the Venture Fund and Internship Experience

Established in 2015, the UNICEF Venture Fund invests in early-stage, open-source technology solutions across various frontier technologies. These include artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, blockchain, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Internet of Things (IoT), data science, and assistive technology, all aimed at benefiting children and communities.

The internship offers exposure to a range of experiences, including global development challenges, innovation processes, emerging technologies, research, analysis, and investment-related work. Interns will also gain practical experience in writing, editing, data analytics, and knowledge management. UNICEF, with over 70 years of innovating for children, uses its Office of Innovation to explore new approaches and partnerships to improve children’s lives, with the Venture Fund specifically financing and guiding emerging technologies for this purpose.
