BRAOU UG, PG, Diploma admission 2026-27 deadline extended: apply by 30 September

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) has extended the registration deadline for its Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), Diploma, and Certificate programmes for the 2026-27 academic session. The new deadline for submitting applications is September 30, 2026, providing additional time for prospective students to complete their admission process.

The admission window, which commenced on June 17, 2026, is for programmes offered in the open and distance learning (ODL) mode. This extension also applies to existing students from the 2024-25 and 2025-26 academic years who are in their second or third year, allowing them to pay tuition fees by September 9, 2026, according to one source.

Application Process and Eligibility

Candidates interested in applying for BRAOU programmes can do so online through the official website, braou.ac.in. The application fee for all programmes is INR 500, which is non-refundable. For most programmes, BRAOU provides direct admission, while specific courses such as B.Ed. require candidates to appear for an entrance test conducted by the university.

To be eligible for undergraduate courses, applicants must have passed their 10+2 examination. For postgraduate programmes, a valid bachelor’s degree is required. The university, established on August 26, 1982, is a government institution and all its programmes are recognised by the Distance Education Bureau (DEB) and the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Programmes Offered and Duration

BRAOU offers a range of programmes across various disciplines. Undergraduate programmes include BA, B.Com, and B.Sc., typically spanning three years. Postgraduate options comprise MA, MBA, M.Sc., M.Com, MLISc, and BLISc, with a duration of two years for most PG degrees, and one year for MLISc and BLISc.

Diploma programmes, which are one year in duration, cover fields such as Marketing Management, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Operational Management, Environmental Studies, Human Rights, Culture & Heritage Tourism, Gender Studies, International Relations, Digital Journalism, and Early Childhood Care and Education. Certificate programmes, lasting six months, include Food and Nutrition, Literacy and Community Development, NGO Management, and Early Childhood Care and Education.

Online Learning and Support

BRAOU has received UGC permission to offer programmes through the online mode, launching five online programmes: MBA, M.Com, B.Com in Telugu Medium, B.Com in English Medium, and M.A. Telugu. The university also has UGC approval for M.A. Education, M.A. Education (School Administration), Master of Social Work (M.S.W.), M.Sc. Geography, and for the continuation of B.Ed. and B.Ed. Special Education.
